Headlight Adjustment Necessary?

Featured Replies

Hi

I have a 2006 Octavia edition 100 with xenons. Now the right side/parking light needs to be changed and after what I read here you need to remove the whole headlamp to get to it.

So my question now is, after putting it back do you really have to check the headlight setting( I know the guide says i should, but it says a lot of things...)or more importantly will it NEED an adjustment after it has been removed. is it a "dealer only" job, in that case Im sure it would be easier letting them change the sidelight at the same time.

Skoda really should print a new manual about how to fix squeaky door seals, squeaky power windows, wind noise from wing mirrors, resonating door panels and such things because these are things I would like to know about, not where the cup holder is or how you start the car. :(

Well, thanks if someone can help me with the light adjusting thing!

It would be very difficult to put the headlight unit back in a position that was different to how it was seated beforehand. I don't think you need worry personally but I am not a purist, there may be arguments to say you should go to a dealer.

it should not need any adjustment at all, as long as you are careful and do not alter any of the adjusting screws whilst dismantling the unit.

Did change the bulp! It was after all a quite easy job (without long nose pliers it would be impossible)!

I had to adjust my drivers side unit after changing a bulb - I found that the unit obviously hadn't been seated properly at the factory so when I refitted it and thumb tightened the white locking nut it raised the alignment above where it had been initially (being sad I'd parked at the bottom of the drive and marked the pattern on the garage door with masking tape)... :dull:
