KandN or pipercross

Featured Replies

hi guys its me again lol, iv been thinking if im remapping my fabia vrs 1.9tdi from 130bhp to 160bhp would it be ok to just uprate the standard air filter to lets say a KandN pannel filter or would it be better to put something like a pipercross induction kit on it??

cheers guys

Answer: Neither.

Standard filter is more than fine - and considering it's forced induction, you want to keep as much of the crap it would suck in though high flow filters out as much as you can.

There are plenty of horror stories on here about turbos destroying themselves due to debris getting in - don't add another one to the list.

Some manufacturers use filter foam rather than paper elements as OEM. Pipercross make a foam element for the standard airbox.

I personally would go for a K&N filter, (I have one in the car ATM). I have read on here that a foam one damaged a member's Turbo because of all the dirt that it let through.

I know you weren't going to, but after this thread, I will not buy a Green cotton Filter.
