Accelerator Pedal issue

Featured Replies

Hi everyone,

went out for a quick spin in the Vrs this afternoon and found that the accelerator pedal was very stiff, squeaked every time I depressed it and felt sticky.

Pulled over and phoned my local dealer, taking her in tomorrow afternoon.

Anyone had an issue similar?

thanks,

Alemol

No not had a problem like that, hope it gets sorted for you soon and let us know how you get on.

nope. you have gone down to look that there isn't a stuck matt or anything right? ;)

I noticed a squeak shortly after buying the car which happened when I lifted off then accelerated again. The dealer couldn't figure out where it was coming from and it went away by itself.

Although this week it's started again and Im now certain it's the throttle. It doesn't stick or feel any different like yours does mind you.

Let us know how you get on!

Ha yeh, got down and had a good look. Even used my hand to depress the throttle to see if it was my shoes squeaking on the pedal.

Hopefully have an update after I take her in this afternoon.

My accelerator is very squeaky! It's annoying as hell, as I can't find anywhere to oil it with it being a sealed unit!

Mine squeaks too so will be interested to see the replies.

Mine has started to squeak, funny enough only after reading this thread!

might just be my first visit to the complaints department at the dealership.

damn VW group and their electronic pedals, someone at work used to have a golf mk3 and that had a sticky cable -lots of fun until someone sprayed some WD40 on it!

Took her in yesterday afternoon, had to leave it as they couldnt seem to find the issue causing the sticking pedal. They also mentioned that squeaky throttle is a common problem that is normally easily fixed at the dealers

I had the same problem a quick spay of the good old WD40 on the pedal pivot point sorted it.

Just got back from the dealership re. my squeaky accelerator pedal: apparently there is a 'manufacturing defect' with the housing -not something that they can fix with WD40. It's going back in next week to get a replacement one fitted which they said would be a 40 min job.

Did they say if this is apparent in all fabias or just ones built in certain weeks?

Just received mine back this afternoon with a new housing fitted. No squeak at present, but it seems the dash has started to rattle now :S hmmmm.

Didn't get to speak to the tech, the service receptionist wasn't familiar with the problem and showed me the tech's notes; that's all it said. I will try to press them for a little more information when it goes back in on Thursday week.

Mine went into the dealers today for winter tyres to be fitted, they replaced the accelerator under warranty as well as they identified the problem :)

Nice to see another dealer with good quality customer service

Sorry for the thread revival.

It would appear after a year after having the housing replaced the squeak has started again!

Time to get it back into Skoda I think...

As stated earlier I had my accelerator pedal replaced -it took an hour of my time going to the dealership and waiting while they replaced it. The replacement started to squeak and I decided to try putting some silicone spray in to it myself as I was wasn't able to get to the dealership for a while -that was many months ago and I've had no more problems at all.

Obviously you do this at your own risk and you need to be careful that you don't get the spay anywhere you shouldn't.

Sorry to highjack the thread, but sometimes when i depress the accelorator, then lift off the pedel still seems to be depressed, not like stuck more like sucked from underneath my foot, has anyone else had this issue? or can explain what it could be, it only happens rarely but really freaky/weird when it does happen

Is this problem on a Skoda? (your profile says you have a Saxo).

The reason I ask is because the pedal on VW group cars is a self contained electronic device and not mechanically connected to anything in the car. Other manufacturers use pedals that are connected by steel cables (a bit like bicycle cables) and these can stick causing this sort of symptom -judicious use of WD40 or similar on the pulleys and pivots usually cures this problem.

No i have a VRS sorry haven't updated avatar details, as you said i thought it was all electroic but im unsure to why this sensation occurs, it might just be my mind playing tricks on me i geuss
