flat spots

Featured Replies

I have an 04 model vrs 80k km on it and I currently having an issue with what would appear to be numerous flat spots across the rev range in all gears.

I have had a new coil pack and new plugs , I have also had the engine flushed as well as the fuel system with an oil change £200, this is aside from a service and MOT costing a fair amount of course.

Anyway, even after all this work and getting the car back from the garage today there seems to be no diagnosis and no fault codes however loss of smooth power delivery and therefore a drop in power overall.

I am a loss of what to do now and my bank balance cant cope with this anymore, especially if the problem is the turbo.

I am just wondering if anyone has had any similar experiences or has any ideas of what this could be? I was hoping that once I got the coil pack replaced I would be ready for a remap in 2 months time now I am thinking of just getting a new car altogether.

Sorry for this sounding so negative, im sure most of you have had similar car issues.the car seems fine if cruising normally. The problem appears only when driven hard.Oh and am from INDIA

What fuel do you use over there because it sounds like it knocking boost back to me,

is the vRS over there a 150bhp or 180bhp engine,

If it is poor fuel and the engine is pinking/knocking under load then the engine ecu will knock the boost pressure down to compansate so it don't blow engine to bits

am using 93ron petrol...its 2 150bhp engine..one of ma friend has the same car and has no problem....the problem started 2 months back

Take engine cover off and have a look round all breather pipes on round engine as they are quiet common for splitting over here and check you have no air leaks anywhere, altho if you did i would expect it to throw some fault codes up and put light on

Ive had this before in my fabia vrs and my old pug 206. Both times it was cured by using carb cleaner and cleaning the throttle housing and map sensor.

Are there any of the externally re-enforced braided hoses on the vacumn or crankcase ventilation pipework in your spec? These can collapse internally, and look ok, but block the flow. The only way of detecting them is to physically squeeze the pipe, and if it collapses, replace it.
