Wheel Tree / Tyre Storage

Or these?

Link not working, but i assume you mean one of these?

Not an issue for the OP but they will only take a maximum of 225mm between wheels, which if you are running 225/40/18 ot 225/45/17 tyres they will be no use?? (I will confirm this when mine arrives and my winter tyres get fitted)

Surely a max of 225 is fine if you have 225?

It states "up to a tyre width of 225 mm" a 225 tyre will have a tread area that is 225mm wide plus any sidewall buldge - However on measuring my OE 225/40/18 tyres including the sidewall they are only 225mm wide .... if they do indeed fit then another will be ordered

Well i am sure they would have taken that into consideration else they wouldn't put suitable for up to 225, they would have put 215 or something if 225's didn't fit.

Let me know and i will order one if it is pukka.

Yeah thats the ones. Have you ordered one? They will be storing my standard Fabia vRS wheels 225/45/16 so should be fine.

Yes mine is apparently on the way to me, I won't know about the 225's fitting or not until the temperature starts to drop though, however after actually measuring the tyre I am a bit more hopeful that they will be OK with no modification.

I only bought the 1 as SWMBO's Golf is running on 205/55/16's so will be fine for that, if mine fit however then another one will be bought (if they have any left by then :giggle: )

Have a couple of those Conrad trees.

They will even fit my Audi wheels in 8.5x19 with 255/35 19. The tyres do (barely) touch, but with the VRS wheels (in 8" width) it was no problem.

Just ordered one from their website direct http://www.conrad-uk.com

Also ordered a handy screen cover thing, folding snow shovel, ice scraper and tyre markers!

As I undersood it 225mm referred to the overall width of the tyre, not the tread width (which is normally a bit less). If so a tyre tree that can take up to 225 tyres will be perfectly adequate. Happy to be corrected if I'm wrong.

Ordered, thanks

Either Aldi or Lidl have sold something similar for a fiver in the not too distant past B)

I'm pretty sure it was Lidl, but I had been looking for looking for them over the last 12+ months, but nothing had been advertised, IIRC they did not come with the cover either you had to buy that separately.

Omg awesome, just what i need! they also sell anti racoon sticks!! My link

Anyone know where i could find a racoon in the uk to test it on??

Update on this, I fitted my winter wheels and tyres yesterday so I can now confirm that 225 wide tyres do fit on the above stand - and there is approx 1" gap between each tyre

(the price of them has however gone up  )

good news as mine arrived last week but haven't got round to cleaning the wheels up to store them. I keep putting it off!

Now that winter is over (pretty much) has anyone had any problems with these and does the cover protect from frost, damp, etc??

Cheers.

Got all my winter wheels on the tyre tree now and I have to say it's pretty good for the money.

It's composed of a steel trolley with a two-part aluminium stalk which bears the weight of the wheels using plastic discs which locate onto the stalk. You can take the top half of the stalk off to make loading easier. The discs slide on easily.

Fully loaded it's easy to move the tree and the four wheels around - I took it from the car to the garage (about 10 yards across pavement onto concrete) with no problems as long as I held onto the top of the stalk, as it's a little bit wobbly.

Once in place with the brake applied it's quite sturdy. It wobbles a bit, but only to be expected of something made of mainly an aluminium tube pushed into a (tough) plastic socket on the trolley part. I added a webbing strap which runs around the second tyre from the top and the trolley handle - stops the wobble quite well.

Overall, very pleased with it for the price, being wheeled it makes life a lot easier going to and from the car and it comes with a plastic dustcover. Last thing to say is if you have kids keep them away from it, or secure it to a wall by means of a strap in case they pull it over. It would actually take some pulling over, but (my) little rascals seem to be capable of anything, so better safe than sorry.

Edit: The wheels I have on the tree are 205/55/R16 on 7Jx16 steel wheels. The tree packaging states it will take up to 225s.
