Possible tracking issue

Featured Replies

Hello,

I've noticed the inside edge of both my front tires are wearing quicker than the outer edge. Is this simply down to tracking or could their be other "forces" at work causing this issue?

It's probably just tracking.

If your anywhere near leeds go to this god of wheel alignment http://www.abc-carservice.co.uk/

Even if its over 50 miles its worth the trip.

Well the last time I had the tracking sorted was about 18 months ago at the local National Tyres and clearly they haven't done a good job. :(

You're bottom ball joints may well be the cause, My tyres wore in the same fashion.

Had an alignment check done and everything was in spec, But the camber was right on the limit, As there's nothing to adjust I was advised to renew the ball joint, Which worked out cheaper than buying 2 tyres every 6 months.

This cured the wear issue!

Rear console bushes collapsing can cause wear on inside edge of tyres aswell

Like has been said above.. The rear console bushes failing could well be a cause of the problem. You would be best having a look before sending it off to tracking.

Also with the roads in the condition they are these days.. Wheel alignment should be checked more often like a service. IMO of course!

It's strange as it's both sides at the same time. I can understand the ball joints or bushes if just one had worn but both fronts have an almost even wear patten.

The ball joints on mine were far from knackered, But there was sufficient wear to have an effect on the camber!

It might be down to simple tracking but good place will check your suspension before carry out job to make sure everything is fine. No point to do alignment/tracking when you have loose parts - thats waste of money and time. Where you from?

I'm from Manchester. Firstly I'd have to buy two new tires before getting the tracking sorted out also last time I had the tracking done was about 18 months ago at a place called National tyres and autocare not sure I'd go there again if this is whats happened. :(
