Mobile phone boosters

Featured Replies

not the £1 things you get off ebay but the powered devices that you can stick in the attic, or on the side of the house. We get virtually no signal in the house (modern bungalow) nut do get a signal in the garden.

I've used the Vodafone Suresignal which connects to the broadband network via ethernet. Minimum 1Mb connection and a 3g phone are required..

If you don't happen to have broadband or a Vodafone phone then await the next answer. ;)

They do work quite well.

We have one in the office as the metal cladding on the side of the building blocks most of the signal.

We have an aerial (looks like a small squariel) mounted on a pole on the side of the building and the repeater sat in the false ceiling.

It cost about £600, but I don't think we've had one dropped call since we installed it.

Hmmmm, not on vodaphone, no 3g sigmal, Broadband a measly 1/2 meg and deffo don't have £600!!!!

Didn't expect boosters to be as expensive TBH, oh well I'll just have to go stand in the garden.

Presuming that you're not tied into a contract, how about swapping networks?

Have a check on your location here as to which network will give you the best signal and decide from there!

cheers john999boy, thats a handy link

We've used a Vodaphone SureSignal in work. It was terrible!

You can get much smaller versions as I said, ours is for the office so it was crucial that it works throughout the building.

This is where we got it from http://www.mobilesignalbooster.co.uk/

I'm on Tesco Mobile (which uses the O2 network). Undfortunatly its the best signal you can get round here Vodaphone a little worse and Orange no use at all.

Hey!!! Those £1 foil jobs do work, but use more than 1!!

Back about 10 years ago Orange had a blackspot area where I work, I stuck 3 of those foil jobs inside the battery compartment of my Sony z7 and improved my signal reception from 0 bars to 1-2 bars, and areas where I used to get 1-2 bars suddenly showed full strength.

Using a (ok, only some top end) BlackBerry on Orange, you can use their UMA service - It's free to use, and like VodaFone, uses the WiFi as the network.
