Rear Brake Upgrade 256mm

Featured Replies

Hello,

Ive been on the hunt for an upgrade set for my rears, as ive managed to now source a front set. However. Is there anything else I need for the rear conversion or is it simply, calipers/carriers/pads and discs??

Assuming I can get there rear calipers and carriers from a mk1 octy vrs? mk4 golf r32? leon cupra??

Any advise would be greatly appreciated

ideally, you want the rears off a FWD car

From what I've read I don't think ones from an AWD car fit. Someone correct me if I'm wrong. Also im sure you need a 6mm spacer between the carrier and where you bolt to the hub.

If you do a search for 256mm upgrade I'm sure you'll find all the information you need.

Andy.

Actually, I think it's more the case that rear brakes from a FWD car fit straight off, 4WD (R32/S3) will fit with a 6mm spacer.

There you go, I've got mixed up

I'm in the process of doing this. The brakes you want were standard fitment on the Golf 4 GTI 180, Seat Leon Cupra R and the Octavia 1 vRS. Ive heared that the AWD ones do fit and i've heared they don't, so beware!

Claiper refurb kits can be sourced from Big Red if required.

I'm getting my discs and pads from Euro Car parts. I'll probably go for Pagid discs. They are painted so will resist rust better.

I'm also fitting new Octy vRS rear spalsh plates from TPS, These are about £30.

Thats cool sourced a set from a mk1 octy vrs from a member on here, good to know they will bolt strait on. Ive got the 312mm setup waiting here, but just wanted to get them both done at the same time
