Who has Xenon's?

Featured Replies

I decided to order some chrome ones, and then ordered some bulbs and ballasts (prokit) from HIDS4U.co.uk - but noticed this. http://uk-mkivs.net/forums/t/180850.aspx Tried it and it did indeed discount my order by £25.00. Thought to share.

Pete

Just received email stating order has been shipped...with discount.

Just uploaded some new photos to my project thread

My car is due for an MOT on Monday, and I was going to fit my new headlights tomorrow. I happened to be in the garage today and asked about the implications, if any, of adding xenons. Was told clearly not to fit them as they would fail my car because she doesn't have headlamp washers or self levelling. I pointed out that the guidance doesn't state this, but they claimed they have been told to fail all cars with xenon lighting and no washers and levelling. They also said the law is changing to firm this up. I should have kept my mouth shut and just turned up on Monday and played it by ear really. Anyhow, I either need to find a new garage or consider swapping them out come MOT time.

How much are these xenons and as any 1 got any pics with them fitted

Have a read through the thread dude, plenty of pics

£184.99 for the projector headlights

You'll need to get ballasts and bulbs etc.

Probably around £250 all in depending on where you get your HID kit from.

FAO Scott:

It's probably worth starting an official group buy for these as people may not necessarily be inclined to read through the whole thread.

Just for interest in case it fails at MOT time. Can you get halogen bulbs in D2S fitment?

You probably can but how are you gunna power them? the usual leads that attach to the bulb aren't there

I think this has been covered before but just to clarify am I right in thinking my existing H7 HID kit wont fit into the Xenon headlights?

correct

you'll need new D2s bulbs and a D2s connector lead that connects to ur original ballasts.

Well the leads will still be there, just connected to the ballast instead of directly to the bulb.

This is something that I'll look at before I fit them.

:wonder: Why would it fail? Beam will be spot on with these fitted, new MOT book states Washers and Levelling only needs to work if fitted so its all good

So basically gluing the washer covers to the bumper will look like it has washers and the tester will think they don't work and fail it !

Saying that, how will the tester know they don't work anyways ? sit there and keep spraying the windscreen till they work or could they over ride them ?

But Clio cups have washer covers because they dont have washers but the normal ones do, so are all these going to be failed too? :dull:

It wont fail. But if you bought some 4300k bulbs that look kIna yellow they would just look like any other projector bulb and wouldn't notice lol

Ah I see so I can keep the ballasts from my HID kit and just get new bulbs and connector leads?

Are the working washers only valid with xenons though ?

I know a lot of people are going to hate me for saying this but I cba look through millions of comments

Are the xenons much better than the normal headlights what is the difference between them and are they worth the £250 needed to spend on them?

Also how come washer jets are needed on these and not the standard headlights?

Jay :)
