Featured Replies

Are the working washers only valid with xenons though ?

No just says if fitted they must work.

But Clio cups have washer covers because they dont have washers but the normal ones do, so are all these going to be failed too? :dull:

Thats a cup and is lighter than the normal clio and doesn't have xenons or washers or leather, those aren't covers they're blanks as you never got those bumpers without washer holes.

Therefor won't fail MOT.

Heres a norm one for ref:

Im an MOT tester and have never heard that. I was at vosa few weeks back talking about the new changes and they never mentioned that!!

as people have mentioned.. people who glue the caps to it? people who just need bumpers after crashes and only find bumpers with the washers?

i dont beleive they can inforce that for a second.

xenons/HIDs are a tricky subject when it comes to mot. but the bottom line is.. at the minute.. if there is a beam pattern thats in the limits they will pass. as for the colour.. its down to MOT testers opinion.. is it EXCESSIVLY blue.. and lets be serious.. from the 2 meters or so away us testers will stand.. there not going to look to bad even if there 12k!

:wonder: I know, thats why I posted it.

I know a lot of people are going to hate me for saying this but I cba look through millions of comments

Are the xenons much better than the normal headlights what is the difference between them and are they worth the £250 needed to spend on them?

Also how come washer jets are needed on these and not the standard headlights?

Jay :)

?

washers are needed because xenons are brighter.. if you get salt/road mess on the lenses it creates "bright spots" and dazzles oncoming drivers.

i personally would just fit HID conversion kit. will be ALOT cheaper and just as illeagle as the xenons unless you fit auto levelling and washers but 99.9 percent of police dont care (unless your an idiot with 12k's and headlight aim in the sky)

I have a cheap HID kit in my car they are a world apart from proper projector lenses, you cant even compare the two.

projector lenses and xenons are totally different things all together.. thats just a type of headlight.. projectors give better lighting to the road anyway.. with xenons in them they are improved more! if you had projectors and no xenons, against a cheap xenon kit of ebay.. the xenon kit would be better. but xenons in a projector light up the road even better.

so, depends, spend 200 pound more for a little bit better and be illeagle, or spend 50pound and get something you can transfer to your new car when you want and be just as illeagle lol

The "xenon" or "HID" is the bulb. The projector is the lens which is what this group buy is for.

On the fabia, the standard headlights are designed for normal bulbs so when you fit a "HID/xenon kit" to them, while the lighting is greatly improved, it looks quite cheap and nasty. The beam patten is wrong, and not focused correctly so it throws light about a bit. These projector lenses are designed for "HID/xenon" bulbs so they focus the light correctly, have a nice clear beam patten with the nice little "cut off" along the top of the projected beam. The difference is massive between this and a cheap £50 HID kit, hence why so many people are waiting for them to come back in stock.

cheap sets can have a perfect beam pattern on them? all of mine have. and any i have ever fitted has had too.

you dont need projector lenses for the xenon kits either..

i know the projectors will be alot better.. but imo, for £50 or £250? i would say £50, have something thats greatly improved and still buy a remap! lol

just down to personal opinion at the end of the day i suppose. i would rather spend 200 quid on performance than having some pretty lights. lol

Oh yeah with regard to spending money on one thing or another its personal preference, not arguing that at all

but as i said though, i know HID's in projectors will be far superior over standard, but xenons in normal reflector lamps are not the worst thing ever,

oooo, just noticed the VRS im looking at now an hopefully picking up this week has Xenons as standard :D

Xenons on a fabia are poo anyway

Bi-xenons are what you want!

Bi xenons are crap IMO, on high beam theres no light in front of the car for a good 15 metres.

Xenons on a fab aren't poo I can vouch for that now lol also it wasn't long ago you were saying how good yours were and that's try are the best optional extra etc

When they're behind you they are.

Best thing? WOT in 2nd or 3rd. Can't see them then :) and whoever is behind you chokes.

I had a SEAT Exeo SE for a week on demo, had Bi Xenons. There were awesome, nothing like you describe.

15 metres may be a not extreme but there was no light in front of car on the ground for a good distance anyway

I went in and RS500 and it had xenons/projectors and the quality of the light was out of this world I was more impressed with the lights than the performance! Haha it lit up the whole road and when on dipped beam you could clearly see the line where the lights level out at :) is this what the xenons in the fabia are like?

I can really compare it to any other cars, but in terms of ebay hid kit vs proper projectors i`m sure wilsy and everyone else with them will agree they are a world apart. They are on my to-do list in the new year (once i`v sorted the braking issues out). The more I drive my mates with them, the more I realise how poor the beam scatter is in reflector lenses.

Ive had hid's and xenons in a fabia the xenon's are far superior plus they look cool

However compared to bi-xenons they dont even come close :) (thats what i ment wilsy)
