No Power

Featured Replies

Where do i start...this damn car has been a pain since day one. After finally getting the disappearing cooling water problem sorted another problem has cropped up.

Driving home tonight...accelerating off a round about theres a strange Pufttttt noise, nothing loud but smoke out the exhaust and then no power. No apparent turbo spool at all, but no power what so ever, it does drive now with no noise or smoke unless engine under strain. Tick over is fine, no rattles or strange noises. No sign of a turbo pipe being blown off but the inlet pipe does have a nice coating of oil inside it.

Although when I took one of the inlet pipes off the sound coming from within sounds like a bag of spanners.

Just about at the end of my tether with this car.

Possibly a boost hose... Follow the hoses and check. It's a common problem. If you rev the car can you hear the turbo spooling? It should be noticeably louder if a hose has come off.

I cant find any signs of a blown off pipe. I cant hear the turbo spooling when I rev the car.

It certainly sounds like a turbo failure from the symptoms you describe.

I'll take it to the garage tomorrow then and see whats what......get it fixed then its bye bye Skoda...I've had enough of it....sorry Skoda Fans.

Many thanks for all the help

Sounds like a bit of a friday afternoon car :(

Hope it is just a boost hose, maybe the one right off the turbo. It is rare for the turbos to just blow up without some degree of shrieking/wailing on boost beforehand.

OH well a bit of good news...turns out its possibly not a buggered turbo...just limp/get me home mode (apparently) cause still remains undetermined, but its in the hands of a local garage now so hopefully it will be all fixed soon.

Anyone want a yellow Fabia vRS....its got Xenons B)
