thinking of selling up

Featured Replies

As title really, just considering selling her to fund a nicer motorbike and a cheap car. In the 2 years I've owned her she's had.....

New discs and pads all round

New wishbones

New MAF

New N75

Sump dropped and pick up cleaned

New front bumper and grill inserts.

All the mods in my sig (all brand new)

98k with full service history

It seems so hard to gauge what they are worth, my car really is sorted, maybe I should just keep her

At the moment they are going for silly cheap prices. I'd say maybe around £2.5k as it's a private sale and has been well looked after, but there are older ones with more miles going for less than that in far flung parts of the country.

I would probably keep it, it seems a shame to sell it on for pennies considering the money you've probably spent recently on maintaining and modifying it.

Yeah it's hard to gauge what they are worth really :( I guess it's worth more to someone who's looking for a well sorted modified car, but there aren't many around.

Find a similar car on Autotrader if you want a feel for value.

Being modified will make it generally less desirable, which will pull the price down.

You'll probably be better off just running it 'till it dies now. Or keep it pretty for another 10 years, and wait for the price to rise!

There's a 51 reg yellow Mk1 hatch with 89k miles on the clock, slightly modded, for £1889 on Autotrader, and an 02 reg with 48k miles for £2950.

Mine's an 02 with 130k miles, and I'd value it at about £2250. :'(

My bro in law has just sold his standard 51 plate in yellow 114k service history etc, went for £1100

cos its yellow, no one wants that colour ;)

joke...seriously...£1100 WTF!

 yeah probably makes more sense just to keep hold. Will it ever die though :D

Exactly what I said!

He was sick of advertising it and getting no interest so let it go for silly money to get rid.

If I were you mike I'd keep hold as you've got a tidy example there and they fetch sweet FA!

I paid £3500 for my standard 03 Yellow, 76k miles, a few months ago. FSSH and fairly mint condition for the age. Possibly overpaid a bit all things considered but I am very happy with the car. :)

Seems you can make more breaking them if you have the time/inclination. :(

Keep it till it diesemoticon-0148-yes.gif

Or break it if you space and time. (1st dibs on front bumper)emoticon-0136-giggle.gif

Ha ha, already got some PM's for parts. Looks like I'll be keeping it. I have a stripped motorbike in the garage at the moment so no room to strip a car :wonder:

Yeah, Id keep it. Youll miss if it you sell it.

They never die my silver one I sold was on 194k and still goin strong

I'd keep it fella. I was thinking of selling up too, but I don't do much mileage and it's worth hardly anything these days. I'd be lucky to get change from 3k (52 plate mint, 55k, fsh etc).

Just have a look on ebay or autotrader for good nick estelles and rapids, cavalier gsi's, escort rs's etc, they go for stupid money, and hopefully the vRS will be the same.

Have a look at the site rules, "Whats it worth" type threads are not permitted by non freedom members, just because they usually end up as a stealth for sale thread, you should have your info now so thread closed.

Ta.
