Samsung Galaxy Nexus

On my S2 there is a powersaving mode which slows the processor and saves a lot of battery. Saves the need to mess with the phone.

I could yes, but if a phone needs a computing degree to fix it, then it's broken IMHO.

If you can make the power better by doing these thigns, then why are they not doing it from the factory?

Thanks of it as remapping rather than fixing. If you remap your skoda it doesn't mean it was broken. They make the phones with a balance designed to be all things to all people. But you can tweak the balance. More performance less battery life, or more battery life less performance. Rooting takes 5 mins. The most complex part is downloading the program to do it.

Just had a software update rolled out :)

and th cameras amazing no 'shutter lag' as youd call it .... everythings instant!

Internet is V.quick m8

Think I'm gonna be in a catch 22 situation, at the moment I'm on a 18th month contract pay £31 a month with everthing I need for my blackberry, this year to get the same level this year would be over £37 a month and that's for a 24 month contract something I'm not happy going to as no phone has lasted more than 18months with me. Haven't got enough cash to put to a nexus or any of the high end phones like the s2 or xe :( might try a BB torch see if I can keep the same contract

Can you not get a deal with the Carrier you are already with? They will usually talk about adding on minutes or taking off a few quid?

I'm with orange - currently have a £5 discount and 400 "Loyalty" minutes.

Al.

With o2 last few times they wouldn't give me owt. Can't really change as the other carriers have a poor signal in the areas I visit :(. I would get a lot more if I changed to a 24 month contract but my phones fall apart after 12 months, my blackberry which is due an upgrade a month early before xmas is held together with glue and has buttons missing lol

That's why for the first time I'm going to go sim-free next.

My SIM only deal with Tmobile is £15 for 300 mins, unlimited texts and internet. To get the same on monthly contract is over £40 for 24 months. To get the same £15/month, the Sensation is £350 for a Tmobile Branded version. It's only £320 on Amazon!

Most handsets are becoming cheaper SIM free these days.

This.

Wouldnt say phones are getting cheaper, but i do think the "ceiling" has been reached for them.

Ive been buying phones sim-free since the piephone 3gs came out..

if your savvy about what and when you buy, and look after the phone so can sell it on after it works out far cheaper.

Im on O2 simplicity at the moment - 17 a month, rolling one month contract 600 mins, unlimited txt, true unlimited internet and free openzone/the cloud wifi (which is handy for my ipad)

Can't afford the intial outlay owt i get spare goes to the octy lol

Unfortunately the O2 simplicity deal has changed and new contracts no longer include data. The one to go for now is on Giffgaff.

My current phone contract runs out next month, and I am looking at a nexus to replace it. I don't want another iPhone partially as i might as well keep the one I have, and partly because approx 1/4 of the people I work with have one.

I am sorely tempted to buy sim free this time as the contracts around at the moment do not suit me. Again it is just the one off cost is putting me off, even though I will save over £150 over the normal contract length

Do you have an old phone to sell on to meet some of the cost?

A Desire can fetch £150ish unlocked and in good condition, so that's half my new phones cost. It's the only reason I'm able to consider it, but will wait until crimbo's out the way first as all the spare cash has gone on presents and sundries.

oooh yes, I have an iPhone 4, which will bring back about 200 notes back into my pocket. I can also get a little bit of overtime to help pay it off too.

All 02 is true unlimited internet, it is their policy to never add money onto your bill for internet usage.. when you reach your limit they text you and then you just get a slower speed. I have racked up 5GB in one month on 02 in the past.

Good luck getting openzone, any1 who knows their rectum from their face turns openzone off on their router. Do I want some scrote robbing my internet? Nope :p

I can still get £100 for my old Google Nexus One on those rip off phone selling sites like Mazuma and the such.

Im suprised your phones last even 6 months buddy... theyre Blackberrys, can you access facebook cus every second status update is 'My BB is broken'

but in all seriousness BBs aren't renown for their reliability

Had a look at the Nexus today. Is isnt as big as I thought. Not much bigger than Galaxy S2. Put them beside each other and the Nexus is a bit longer but same width and super slim.

Guess Ill pick one up in Jan when my contract runs out.

Is it Jan yet?????????????????????

:'( :S 9 Days before my early upgrade is due and the stupid blackberry is dead!!! Went to charge it up and the usb charger went inside it and it died :( Gonna have to use my old nokia n82 for the time being. Had the blackberry repaired 3 times due to wear and tear and the old nokia once when i dropped it screen first and they say technology advances?? lol

Really want a samsung nexus but cant justify paying £180 on a £32 18 month contract, going to either get the HTC XE or Galaxy SII for £105. Only way a phone would last me 24 months is if it's one of the JCB ones!

Gonna have a busy day, might start off at Carphone warehouse, Tesco's, O2 Shop then phones 4 u see if i can better the £105!

Motorola now do a DEFY model, which is also a JCB - it comes with 24 months warranty too - maybe an option for you?

iro £220 sim free.

Spoke to one of the sales team on web chat on their site and he said i could just cancel my contract for £11!! thanked him and phoned o2 again to cancel my contract and the guy goes as it's a one off you can upgrade!! told him the 3 phones i wanted, htc xe, galaxy s2 and nexus, came back with thier price on a £32 18 month contract which were £105 for xe and S2 and £180 for nexus!! Told him no to nexus and then unexpectantly he goes, "we price match, hang on a minute" Comes back with the s2 for free!! :o So now i'm waiting for my s2!!
