Looks awesome tbh and I'm due an upgrade but doubt Virgin will get it

For those who went iPhone 4S. Kept the receipt? :giggle:

Problem is it still has Android, so no iPhone killer. :D Mind you if it sat on an iPhone it would kill it, its a tablet!

Spoke to a sales guy in phones 4 u, apparently they have exclusivly for 2 weeks and it came out today in the bigger stores with the rest getting them in stock tomorrow. I'm thinking about getting it

S2 killed the iPhone 4 and the 4S before it came out. Hence more sales and more awards ;)

I'd love this phone but I've only had my phone for 6-7 months

I just got a free upgrade to an S2 one year in to a 2 year contract with Vodafone. They rang up and asked if I'd like to replace my HTC desire for an S2 free of charge!

Having used Iphones and Ipods in the past, there's really no contest in my view. iOS works but don't expect to be able to configure it much. iOS is iOS is iOS. Android will also work straight out of the box but you can change and customise it to your heart's content. So no tow androids will ever be set up the same. To the apple users this seems like anarchy and therefore "worse" than the nice, controlled, vanilla world of apple. But both work very well in my experience. Oh but android has widgets

You pays your money and takes your choice. The nexus does look good though, but I am still blown away by the S2. And now that it's not my work phone, I have rooted the Desire and it too has been transformed. No more memory issues, amazing battery life through undervolting. Try doign any of that on an Apple :giggle:

Im waiting for the reviews..

This phone runs Android 4.0 which has a radically different UI to the androids of old.

I have a Galaxy SII at the moment which im happy with, Sammy have confirmed that the S2 will be getting ICS also... but no doubt there will be nice builds out on XDA-devs soon emoticon-0148-yes.gif

That's the beauty of android...don't like the UI? Load a new one. I spent the first week of S2 ownership getting rid of Samsung's touch wiz and getting it as close as possible to Sense as that is what I am used to. Go launcher EX does the job nicely when you add a sense theme.

Well what's it like as good as I think it will be?

Hope so. Not happy with the size too big a screen, we are not fat americans (im on a diet, feck off)

Love the iPhone but i like messing with my tech so cannt swallow an apple.

So is a supper quick? Want to love this phone but..........

Looking at the HTC Edge, quad core 1.5Gh Spec unconfirmed!! http://www.gsmarena.com/htc_edge-4320.php

Had a desire and like the idea of Google on my phone, pure and being able to change at will.

They have done some amazing things, Maps, street view, search, voice GPS and ANDROID.

Let the fight begin.

The thing is (again going from a Desire to the SGS2) because these phones are thinner than most, they dont *feel* big (the SGS2 is 4.3in - the Desire was 3.5)

Also the SGS2 is lighter than the desire was

All in all the SGS never feels like a big phone when in pocket.

I am interested to play with the Nexus *but* considering builds of ICS are already available on the SGS2 the nexus isnt worth upgrading to.

Are ICS builds stable? Where from?

I torn after hearing if the HTC edge, or a sensation.

Given the rubbish contracts about unless you want 2yr £40/month lock in you don't get any data or minutes.

So my next phone will be SIM free and get a 30 day contract.

There already appears to be some software issues with ICS!

I'm on 25 quid a month, unlimited landlines calls, and 500 mobile minutes, and 500 meg data and 2000 texts and they gave me a new galaxy s2 last week. Vodafone

On 24 months?

I want 18 MAX, and dont want an S2. I'd go for the sensation, which unless I want to pay £200+ for, you cant get any good deals on. ;)

No they are not stable lol.

At the moment it boots and the UI works but the radios dont.

XDA developers is *the* place for all things phone-modding.

im running checkrom Revolution at the mo and its very good.. there are ICS themes available if you simply must get the ICS look

Lol I just rooted it and removed bloatware for now. The stock rom seems fine to me.

24 months. I was offered the sensation too but read some bad reports on some issues so I went with the s2.

i considered it, look at it, and drew it out onto paper - WOW IT's HUGE! - I doubt it would fit into my pocket, so went for the iphone 4s. - which is excellent.

I doubt a 4.7" screen could be comfortably held, and operated with one hand...

Al.

ps.. SIRI on the iPhone is... PANTS! - What a useless, useless feature!

Issues? :S

I still got my 3gs and been looking for replacment for a while now, had the samsumg s2 for a week but it was too big, look at the galaxy nexus and it is even bigger. it is ok in the winter when you have a jacket. where would you keep the phone in the summer with tshirt and shorts? What we really need is a powerful phone but a lot smaller. why are we making phones bigger and bigger? Man will start carrying handbags just to carry they phone soon

Looks like David Beckham already has the Samsung Galaxy Nexus then? ;)

It's called a "Murse" (Man Purse), and they are already big in Eastern Europe, Russia and Asia; I have one, but I bought it to carry my water filter bottle and camera around in.

Been having a fiddle over the weekend haven't yet had to live with it, but 1st impressions are very good indeed, and OMFG the screen is amazing!

My 2pence on Apple generally as a phone OS:

Apple provide a good phone and a good UI...... if your my mum.

Let me expand, I had an apple 3GS just after they came out, I kept the phone for 2 weeks and sold it on. (imported a Google Nexus One from USA 3 months before Uk release)

The reason i sold it on was that after the 2 weeks of ownership there were about 6 points when I said 'hmmm now that's a bit !@"$% why?' and the answer to every dissapointment was because it was 'Apple' sticking their finger into every pie you tried to make or eat, denying you even some of the basic phone freedoms you had 4 years ago.

This isnt an Apple flame post, they are very good phones and provide a brilliant UI, screen and a competitive response speed, for people who want things to just work, like my mum, and my brothers (the less technically minded who dont care about modding and the such, you buy it and it works - Internet? emails? good stuff) its impossible to break an apple by pressing the wrong button or deleting a wrong file because they stop you, but with that they also stop you having basic rights like changing to a custom ringtone that you haven't bought through Itunes'

I prefer Android, I like to fiddle, I like to try and writ things and get them to work. The Android OS is largely open source and so although the Android market place has less apps on it than apple, a much larger % are useful and not just 'fun'... fun is good but useful is better. You have free reign to upload what you want to the Android marketplace 'within small restrictions' where as apple have to check everything that goes onto the apple equivalent(which is good for some people because you cant **** your phone up).

Android pose the view of 'if you want to root your phone, fine, we don't mind, you've payed serious £££ for the phone, do what you want, you own it' where as apple get a bit of a mard on if you jailbreak an Iphone (but a recent legal battle said they cant do jack **** about it), and thats why all across the Android marketplace there are hundreds if not thousands of apps for the 'rooted' user, doing even fancier things.

Just sit back and let the modding community develop your OS and make more sales for you, how easy can it be.

Modding community = more Android sales.

So Apple are a good phone, if you want things to 'just work', 3 members of my family have Iphones ranging from 3GS to Iphone 4, and its brilliant that apple provide such a user friendly UI and allow such ease of use for emails, internet and apps alike.

I just dont appreciate spending £££ on a phone then having my wings clipped and genitals twisted to an extent where im denied what I would consider even the most simple of mobile freedoms (in my opinion), but apple are learning and improving!

+1 for Android as a OS for me, anything I can download a ROM and play original Pokemon and Super Mario on at work gets my vote!
