lock rear seats from folding using VAG parts

Featured Replies

As my FL hatcback was broken into last month and items taken from the boot by folding down the rear seats, I was thinking can the locking mechanism found on other VAG cars be used to lock the Octavia's seats in place? Any one tried?

I don't know the answer to your question, but if the seats were locked in place (like you used to be able to on the Superb 1) and someone wanted to get through the parcel shelf into the boot, I am sure it wouldn't take too much to yank the parcel shelf up and gain access to the boot IMO?

They may also cause more damage (and more cost) trying to get into the boot as well.

The locating lugs on the Golf parcel shelf are a weak point, I assume the Octavia would be the same, so a quick tug upwards would snap the locating lugs clean off giving access to the boot area.

Nice idea but IMHO I think it's a waste of time.

Thanks for the replies, I agree it's not going to make the contents of the boot 100% secure however due to the angle of the rear screen and the fact you can't get the head rests out of the way without bringing the seats forward it would be quite tricky to get items out of the boot via the parcel shelf.
