Administration Fees

Featured Replies

I have had a Skoda Yeti 140 Elegance 4x4 on order for 4 1/2 months and now, through Briskoda, have become aware of the Folding Front Passenger Seat option.

I asked if my order could be changed to include this option without affecting the anticipated delivery date of Jan 2012.

Positive reply - but on top of the Option cost of £100 have been quoted an additional £200 Admin Charge, which makes it a very expensive option!

Has anybody else had a similar experience please?

They want what??

As long as the car is not yet built, they can change the order easily. I added extras to mine after placing the order, as have many others, at NO COST.

Oh and welcome to Briskoda

Andy

Is the admin charge from the dealer, Skoda UK or Skoda Czech?

Did you ask what the £200 covers? I guess it's pretty tough working a computer for a few minutes to add an options code!

Hello Skoda Torque Suggest wait till you got the car then buy and fit the option you want and avoid that extra admin charge.emoticon-0148-yes.gif

Tell them you'll cancel unless they waiver the charge.

Did you actually look at what option he wanted to have?

How is he going to fit the front folding seat option after sale?

I changed my order to include panoramic roof and was not charged anything other than the additional cost of the item.

I added a spare wheel approx 1 month after placing the order, 2 or 3 months later I added a 3 spoke steering wheel, never any mention of an Admin charge. Sounds as if they are at it, I'd contact Skoda direct and ask them.

It should be free to change. I changed colour, added an electric seat and a DSG gearbox without incurring an admin charge AND they gave me tha same 13% discount on those items as I got with my original order through

Complain to Škoda UK ASAP.

Buy them and fit them, no problem for the brave. LOLemoticon-0148-yes.gif

As the car isn't built yet, still can't digest why the extra charge for admin, extra £100 for the folding seat, yes.

Editted because I was very rude to the troll

Damn! Missed it Graham. Would love to see you being rude.. as opposed to your normal courteous style!

Oh, when I need to be I can be very rude, but I always try to do it with a smile on my face.

It confuses/frightens them more!!

It's a shame your editing didn't stretch to removing the completely unjustified 'troll' comment.

I agree "troll" was a misnomer. I accept giandougl may well not have intended to post just to antagonise (my working definition of a troll) but his post was one which was worthless because he did not know what the problem was and so his "solution" was valueless.

The Fabia does not as far as I know have such an option. It is a Yeti specific alternate front seat with a fold flat option to extend the load area to full cabin length on the passenger side. If he understood that his post was trolling, if he didn't it was merely unhelpful. Unlike wheeltrims or exhaust finishers you cannot obtain the part to retrofit.

The Yeti section is open to all and welcoming to those who have anything to contribute.

I think I will go on the Fabia section and start advocating the fitment of Haldex 4wd hardware as a modification. I wonder how patient they would be?

Octys share some significant technology and hardware -we have only today learned about sticky handbrake problems from an Octy post so there is no inbuilt hostility but uninformed and casual posts don't usually advance debate-unless they are funny

Totally of the wall from the interesting debate going on here :wonder: but would love to have a 4x4 Fabia

Come on Skoda catch up; Fiat managed it with the Panda when you were still building RERWD :D

Nor does the Octavia (I have two) but that doesn't mean I didn't know the folding front seat was unique to the Yeti.

If I'd have suggested that the OP retrofit the front seat would that make me a troll too?

The front seat is available as a spare part, as is any other component. Agreed it doesn't make sense to retrofit a complete new seat but to accuse a fellow member of being a troll for daring to suggest a workable alternative to a factory order is quite frankly preposterous.

The great little Panda 4x4 isn't available in the UK anymore :'(

Saw a green and cream one the other day, I love the unique head and tail lights and chunky looks!

A true future classic in my eyes

Preposterous?

The problem is that neither you nor I know the spare part price or availability of the recently introduced fold flat seat. I do know from past reading that an interior replacement is typically cause for a write off of even a newish and high value car.

It is a £100 option and, I suspect either unobtainable or prohibitively expensive as a retro fit. I posted to defend Llanigraham a knowledgeable and respected Yeti expert. Is your support for giandougal based on an assessment of him as a poster or more generally based on a wish to see more general briskoda members in the yeti area?

I only ask because since there was some friction-long gone -with mods over the moving of non yeti specific posts we have had an influx of posters here who vary. Some appear to have some interest in or valuable insights into Yeti issues, but some have been passing through without displaying any genuine interest at all. Mods soon removed the ones who were simply having a pop but some suspicion can arise when someone with an elderly souped up Fabia pops in to join a serious discussion. Jokers are welcome, if funny.

Silver,

If you consider my posting inappropriate then I suggest you report it to the mods.

The truth being told JCP I've felt the need to defend fellow members against unnecessarily harsh comments from certain experienced and knowledgeable members before, this is a prime example.

I've read, re-read and triple read the posts from gindougl and cannot find any justification for being called a troll. I for one find this type of name calling at best unpleasant, assuming the edited post was even more 'rude' then yes preposterous fits.

Discretion is needed on forums as the written word can easily be taken in the wrong context. Not in this example. There is no need for it, on any forum, ever.

I read with interest, regret and genuine sorrow at some of the passionate threads relating to the changes being enforced on Briskoda which some felt was aimed specifically at the Yeti forum. Defend fellow Yeti owners all you want, this particular comment was unnecessary and unjust irrespective of who said it and where it was posted.

Front seats, whether fold flat or not are available, to order, as spare parts, as is any part of the Yeti from a complete body shell to a tyre valve dust cap.

For fear of ruining the poor OP’s original thread perhaps we should put this down as a learning curve for all involved?

I'll shake your hand (electronically) we are back to being a happy section now and perhaps there was more grumpiness than necessary.

Some parts are priced not to sell though  I wonder what it would cost to re-shell a newish car......

Graham, I'd prefer not to involve the mods unless absolutely necessary. I guess I'd hoped you might see the error of your ways and apologise to the poor guy yourself, in the same way you suggested a fellow member apologise to you on a recently deleted thread?

How about we let the Freedom member of over four years with 1,800 posts who you chose to call a troll make that decision?

I will happily shake hands JCP, I read with interest you’re passionate but always balanced posts at the height of the recent uproar.

I think the prohibitive cost of retrofitting a new front seat was how this thread came off the tracks as we all know that particular choice should be an absolute last resort, and all things considered a little daft.

Keep smiling everyone :)
