SuperPro Supaloy Control Arm for VAG

Featured Replies

Nice little video on these here:

Anyone had any experience of them? Comparison with the TT control arms?

Yea heard loads of people say that the tt wishbones are a big improvement and these look the same. Also the rear bushes do have a lot of play in them and excellent video to show it. I have the tt bushes on mine but can't tell u the difference as aint drive it yet lol. Any ideas on price as I bet they ain't cheap!

Got this today from AmD:

Thank you for your enquiry ref your Octavia.

These are will fit the Octavia VRS.

I am afraid we do not have the difference in weight available to hand at the moment but being alloy they will be lighter than the cast and pressed steel versions. These will be far better than the TT version due to the fact the bushes are much better quality, they are positioned in a way that they stop lift (Anti lift) and they also come with an adjustable ball joint. This means you can adjust the front camber which is not possible with the standard arms or the TT version. As you can see from the video there is alot less movement in the Super Pro bush, which helps with handling and the car will feel a lot more positive.

The price of a pair of complete arms with adjustable ball joint would be £400 + vat and fitting would be £180 + vat which would also include four wheel laser alignment on our state of the art laser alignment machine.

We are offering free fitting on these arms when purchased with a coilover kit or lowering spring kit.

Hope this helps but if you do have any further questions please do not hesitate in contacting me.

So, as you said, not cheap, but they do sound like an improvement over the TTs. Anyone got a recent price on the TT control arms as a comparison?

£400!

My goodness, I reckon I could get a one off pair made for that money.

I know they've got to get their money back for the design, but that's a lot of money, when most of the difference is in the bush.

Talking of bushes, is there any way to get a solid rather than voided bush in the normal wishbone?

The TT arms are camber adjustable on the ball joint. The S3/Golf/Octavia versions are not adjustable. I cant see that the Superpro arms are adjustable at the ball joint.

If you want a standard non voided bush then the S3/Cupra consoles are solid.

£400 is a fair price and the TT ones come to around the same price without the better bushes.

This is interesting, I just spoke to Superpro and they say the TT cast arm weighs 4.6 Kg's, their arm weighs 3.0 Kg's. Quite a saving on un-sprung weight.

They will also be supplied with roll centre adjusting ball joints so it's actually not a bad price really!

Question: are they guys who are fitting TT control arms also fitting Anti Lift Kits (e.g. Whiteline)?

If so, then the SuperPro arms include anti lift already (according to the mail from AmD above) then this makes them a bit more cost effective? Yes?

:wonder:

From having custom sets ordered for my 90s elan, their price seems more than reasonable. Something I would love to do when I do my suspension.

This would also be my interpretation.

As I already have a WALK, I guess I'd be better off just sourcing a set of TT arms.

Interesting vid though, and good to know that there are alternatives out their...

Yea £400 aint a bad price as TT ones are about that themselves new. As Gareth says above if you have the WALK kit then might as well go for TT ones 2nd hand, but as a complete package they are well priced (not that i have £400 to spend on them right now, but will in the future) and from the video they will be a cracking improvement.

One for the future to do list for me (without the missus knowing obviously haha :))

Good price IMO - I changed the bushes in my Hsv - movement fore and aft was about 5cm beforehand! Not far off in the gti by the looks of it!

Not sure the anti lift is 'included' though - looks like same location as oe to me in the video?

take it back - they are doing the AL with the off centre bush.

Just out of interest all has anyone got the superpro dogbone mounts and if so how much of an improvement?

I reckon that is reasonable deal. A lot of people on here rate the ALK highly so this looks like a two for one offer and even better if the bushes need changing anyway.

The unsprung weight would be going a small amount in the right direction but there are probably better ways of addressing that concern - swapping out the depleted uranium wheels on the end of the swinging arm would be a good place to start.

Spoke to these guys at autosport show today - I'm convinced! Apparently they will bringing out a new version shortly with ball joints included as well.
