EGR Delete questions

Featured Replies

Im looking at an allard delete pipe, will it cause the eml to come on if fitted to an asz engine? Also, how much should i be looking to buy one second hand?

Cheers

Yeah it'll come on, but can be mapped out quite easily on the ASZ.

One thing though, blanking off the EGR means you'll loose your anti-shudder valve.

you reckon it would be better to clean the egr and do the elephant mod? Would it be an idea to "turn down" the egr valve with vcds aswell?

Forge also sell the EGR delete kit, my engine light's on but I run a BLT with the Allard kit.

Problem with just cleaning it, is that itll soon clog back up as its still getting exhaust gas coming through. Depends what you want really - it does run better with the egr kit, but you get the light most of the time.

I'm still unsure of them. By solving a problem you cause two more.

Give it a clean and leave it in.

The only 'issue' is the EML light, I see no other problems with them, all positive?

Plus the anti-shudder. There's speculation of affect on MPG, but I've found arguments claiming it can increase or decrease by removing.

I'm still getting my head around all it's uses before deciding to simply remove it.

Of course, the anti shudder when turning off the car. It is noticeable, but not bad - the whole car doesnt shake if thats what youre thinking, it just doesnt sound as smooth when turning off. Horses for courses really - depends what your after. Performance focused, or refined/smooth.

I removed mine a while ago now and have been calculating MPG at 36 (brim to brim - short town trips), calculated at the same for the last two tank fulls. I am going to put my EGR back on this weekend and calculate my mpg again to see the outcome. I will report back :)

I know what it feels like, as mines not working at present (Ive snapped a connector for one of the vacuum hoses... Different story).

But there's more to consider than just "remove valve-map out light- no recirculating fumes-job's a good 'un".

The EGR reduces combustion temp, I dunno what effects that has on other components (if anyone knows please chime in),. MPG is also affected one way or the other,

That would be awesome, let us know!

36MPG sounds low, but there's a lot of variables in driving style etc.

It seems low but consider petrol mpg's lol
