Right, I'm after some winter tyres and the 205/45/16 is such an unpopular size, finding winter tyres is also impossible.

Now I've got two quotes so far

4 x Goodyear winters 205/45/16 @ £462 fitted or

4 x Hankook winters 195/50/16 @ £322 fitted

Now there is a big cost saving here, so will I be ok with 195/50/16 tyres? And is the Hankook a decent winter tyre?

How much would I expect fitting to be generally?

Very much depends on your area. Near me, there's a local branch of Kwik Fit who are happy to do it for £10/tyre (new, stickered tyres only). There's also another independent place I've been recommended who apparently charge as low as £6/tyre so I'm going to go and see them and see if they look alright. You should easily get them fitted for less than the £100 difference between getting the Hankooks delivered and the Goodyears fully fitted.

I ordered these last week. Unfortunately Camskil put the price up to £107.30 each, and got a pair for £220.58 delivered. :( They came on Monday and I'm going to get them fitted on Friday afternoon or Saturday.

Yes, I noticed them cheaper on Camskill tonight....so if I factor in a max of £40 for fitting then that's more dosh saved

I've put Hankook i-cept W310s on the VRS for the winter. I'm bloody impressed with them so far, superb wet performance and very quiet. The softness of the compound takes some bite out of the steering, but is a reasonable compromise.
