The heated mirrors work independently of the rear screen. Are you clicking the mirror adjuster knob right round by 180 degrees to switch them on?

they work only below a certain temperature I think its 20 deg C.

That's not much of a handicap in the UK ;)

Look at your mirror adjuster knob, there is 'L', 'R', and at 9 o clock there is a mirror symbol...ie away from the driver. Twist the knob around past either 'L' or 'R' past a click to the mirror symbol. Operate your heated rear window switch, and the mirrors should heat too.

On my VRS it's just a dot there is no mirror symbol. Still the same action to get them on.

Doesn't need the hrw to be on - mirrors are independent.

I think the mirrors heaters work when you confirm the two conditions:

1- Rear window heater activated by switch

2- Mirrors heaters activated by switch

I can't check because i had faced the following problem:

The side mirrors heaters doesn't work any way (with rear window heater activated or not),

When checked the coding, i found that the side mirrors heaters are coded when checking the doors modules, and also works well when tested using the software.

But when checking the CECM coding, the side mirrors heaters is not coded, and tried to activate it using the long coding (By writing 1 value at byte 1 bit 4) but the process doesn't confirm and gives an error

You dont need the heated rear window turned on on my vrs for the mirrors to work.

Thanks everyone, I found the middle position on the switch and all is now well. Heaters come on with the rear screen.

it should be independent. With this foggy weather I use the mirror more than rear screen and they both work independently on my 07 estate

haha iv owned my car over 2 month now and iv only just noticed iv got heated wing mirrors

Another piece of equipment ill never use, along side the mp3 disk player and actually putting items in my glovebox to have it cooled

I don't understand why you wouldn't used them. They clear them of frost quickly on a cold morning and keeps the mirrors clear in rain and fog (especially good on the motorway when there is a lot of spray). When I didn't have them on a Mini - I really missed them.

the car is waxed often, i do a quick wipe over the wing mirrors so the water always just runs off and in the winter it gets a quick spray with de-icer. iv never had them before so im non the wiser but i think i could live without them

They are good for warming your hands although it is a bit of a stretch from the drivers seat to the passenger door mirror . . .

I'm having a problem with mines, read all the above reply's & tried the different ways to get them to work but mines just don't go on.

58 plate elegance estate:

Would there be a fuse for these? Chances of it blowing?

i gave them a whirl last night, just to see if they work, yes they will make good hands warmers!

I just leave my mirrors on all the time, I presume they switch off after a set period of time anyway. It's good being able to see the mirrors after 2 mins when I can't see outa my windscreen :o

im pretty sure they wont turn off, just like rear demister?

my windscreen always fogs up without fail when it has been sat longer a few hours, but i put the fan onto cool, turn eco button on just to get the air circulating from start up and by the time the car is run a few minutes (i do presume you warm your car up!) then your good to go

Strange that, my rear screen heater turns off as do the heated mirrors.

Yeah they turn off after ten minutes. You can lengthen this by adjusting Adaptation Channel 3 in the Central Electronics Controller. I turned mine up to 20 mins for no particular reason.

You can swap you're stream MP3 with my standard one if you have no use for it!

The rear heated screen is on a timer and turns off after a set period.
