Just crashed!

Edit : Thanks for suggestions, I will get some price quotes for repair.

Very similar to a crash i had in the summer but i bent a chassis leg :/ i wudnt say its a right off from those pics but ideally you'd need to strip the bumper down to see what you may have bent behind.

unsure on the no claims business with him being a named driver but you'll still loose no claims if you claim because of the deer for sure.

I didnt claim for the damage on my car because my excess is stupidly high due to being young so wasn't worth doing it lol.

good luck and hope your ok

That's why we all pay for car insurance. Any idea what the cost would be over & above the excess to sort out yourself? Might find some parts in a breakers yard.

May be a stupid question , but is the photo of your 07 vrs ?

I'd go down the private repair route.

Surely your step dad would contribute to the cost?

Buying the items you'd need to get it back to standard and fixed would cost less in the premiums you'd pay in extra insurance i'd imagine.

Just start looking for parts to replace them with! Don't bloomin' go through insurance or you'll be kicking yourself for years with an accident on record.

Even if you go down the fix it privately route you are still oblidged (I think) to inform the Insurer. Certainly when you come to renew they will ask about crashes/accidents in the past 3 or 5 years.

It is infuriating when something happens beyond your control which will adversley affect you. Hopefully damage does not write it off and can get fixed quickly.

There is my topic I started a few weeks back.

I hit a deer also. Still haven't looked at what the damage is and by what I could see was cracked bumper which can repair, creased bonnet which will beat out, wing and light totally minced and my intercooler busted!

My parents were telling me put it through insurance but I would rather not pay the excess and increased premium for next year. Just going to sort it myself!

They don't ask it like that though. They usually say "Any claims in the past XX years, even if not your fault" If that car is repaired there is nothing to say you need to tell your insurer. The only thing is obviously repairs have to be carried out so the car will meet the MOT standard. :)

Where's the pic gone? :wonder:

I'm fairly sure I have been asked for and Accidents, Claims or Convictions before. However as the OP was not driving then he has not had an accident, so should be okay either way. ;)

Damn sure if I wasn't going through the insurance I wouldn't tell them.

If you have damaged your car (no third party involvement) and paid for repairs yourself then your insurance company dont need to know. I asked mine when I did exactly this and they couldnt care less.
