Just got my skoda may have a problem

Featured Replies

Hi all just got a octavia 2008 elegance 2.0 dsg auto from skoda in cannock with 3000 miles on the clock !, any how had it for 6 weeks the trip computer is saying i am averaging 38 to the gal we have been driving very steady is this right i did a trip to wales and back and got up to 40 mpg, i am goin to do a brim to brim test over the next week and help on this would be great thanks all, apart from the bad mpg we love the car

Are you right in saying three thousand miles? It probably hasn't been run in properly yet!

Does it have a DPF? Could be that the DPF has been passively regen'ing if you have been doing short journeys. Don't be afraid to use all the revs once the oil has warmed up - this will help bed things in better.

If it has 30,000 miles on the clock then i would be looking at the fuel filter if it hasn't been changed and there could be a problem with the MAF.....the latter would be covered under warranty.

I have VCDS and local if you ever need any diagnostics doing (although my cable doesn't seem to work on your model years at the moment!).

Hi and welcome aboard.

If its low miles then most likly IT wasnt driven properly. I dont mean trash it but let the vehicle breathe correctly. What I would do is drive it for few miles as someone would chase you then get it serviced and change all possible filters and oil. If its real 3000 miles from 2008 then most likly it stood more then drive and that aint good for car either. Also check tyre pressure and tyre condition.

The engine is still tight, both my current car and the Octavia I have before (both 2.0 TDi) did not achieve a good MPG figure until around 20K miles. The engine you have is still tight and needs to loosen up more before you start to see the benefits.
