Yeh I did see the dark green stuff myself :( wonder how much out would it be? Might not be too bad?

Also is that spray stuff heat resistance? I looked at the description a d it doesn't

Mention it?

I would also be intrested in sourcing some of this for a caliper referb :) Seems hard to get hold of.. Even my mate at Halfords couldnt mix me some... :|

Couldn't or wouldn't? Wondering if I'd be better off with the spray of the paint itself?

Doesn't mention being heat resistant!? :(

I'll be painting up some calipers myself :)

Do I need to be careful around the piston seals etc?

Don't know where you can find some but I can let you

know how it's holding up on my calipers.

I bought some of the original smooth green when I heard

it was being discontinued.

So far they are easy to clean, brake dust comes off with

little effort and no need for harsh cleaners.

A drop of valet pro bilberry wheel cleaner and they come up

lovely, As for heat resistance mines flake free so far but

I baked mine on in the oven between coats to harden it.

Thanks. :)

How did you go about baking them?

Did you let them go touch dry before baking them?

Was there no stench off them?

And what precautions do I need to take when preping and painting? Or can I just soak the whole thing in a brake cleaner?

I remember seeing some pics of your process I think but can't find them :(

He literally couldnt mix it! said that the colour wasnt on thier system or something... :|

I had the same problem and ended up getting my calipers powdercoated. I paid £40.... Saves alot of hassle

I'd see the demise of Smooth Green as a blessing tbh

Get red or black paint - calipers in green just don't look 'serious' imho

There's something very 'fischer-price' about Skoda Green

Lol ok oki don't want red it's on all cars and looks chavy. Was just wanting to keep it original looking :) might take it to a body shop lol

Thanks. :)

How did you go about baking them? Hung on bottom of oven shelf.

60-80degreesC 1-2hours per coat.

Did you let them go touch dry before baking them? Yes.

Was there no stench off them? No, once touch dry most of the smell has gone. Just make sure the reservoirs are 100% empty before you bake 'em. I didn't and one leaked making

me have to re do it

And what precautions do I need to take when preping and painting? Or can I just soak the whole thing in a brake cleaner? I masked off all the rubber components and shiny bits but mine were refurbed and as new so I can't offer much help on the cleaning aspect.

Sorry the links were for dark green. the picture shows smooth green and not dark green, was in a rush between shifts, I agree the vRS should have green calipers and do not have now as a cost cutting exercise and have post box red calipers like every man and his dog have, I did have a full 1 litre which I lent to someone on here who nocked it over ,to give me back with just a layer of paint skin emoticon-0106-crying.gif I now have a 250 ml one, if you were local you could paint yours with it but not letting my ( precious , in a Gollam voice :giggle: ) tin out of my sight . The paint holds up well been on 2 years( to freshen up) still look perfect

Just out of curiosity.

Has anyone tried mixing smooth dark green with smooth white to produce a similar colour to OEM?

Can anyone who's used smooth dark green predict whether this may be feasible? Or is the dark green just too different?

It is very dark isn't it :(

i did mine with java green spray can from halfords seems a good match there dosnt seem any problems with the paint regards it not been heat resistant.

I never had a problem with the paint bubbling but never tracked it. I'm sorry I dont have any pics as I sold the car 12 months ago. When i painted over the original green this was slightly lighter but still look fine against the green on the skoda badge on the wheel.

Keep in mind they are a bit grubby, not been cleaned for a week or so.

My front ones in standard green (312`s but from a octy):

My rear 256`s in not so great match "hammerite green":

I`m not sure if its too dark to mix with some white, good thinking though, worth a go maybe.
