RETRO FIT JUMBO BOX HEATING PIPES

Featured Replies

Hi folks !

I'm currently in the process of retro fitting a jumbo box and console but I've come across a stumbling block. On the rear of the armrest there are heater controls which I would like to connect up. Does anyone know the part numbers of the pipes I need ? I've contacted 2 skoda dealers here in N.I but they don't seem to know what I need.

One did call them air guides but the parts chap could not be sure which ones I need. I've tried the search facility but may have missed the relevant post.

Can anyone help as I would like the controls to work for the rear paasengers and not just having them there for the sake of being there.

I've a nice leather armrest waiting to go in but this issue is holding me up. My car has manual air con if that makes any difference?

Thanks in advance.

Marty

I hit this same block - then ignored it, so my rear vents weren't connected up. Didn't bother me as I very rarely had any passengers in the rear other than my 2 year old :)

But if you're often carrying people it would be a nice addition.

When I retro-fitted mine, I took in a printout of the Skoda schematic to source all the screws etc I needed - if you want a copy of that (which does show the part, but doesn't have the part number) PM me your email address.

Thanks for replying guys.

My dealer has faxed me a copy of the exploded diagrams so hopefully I can work out what's needed and try and decide if it's really worth the effort. Although I am a little fussy so I might have a go at it all yet

I priced these up from the dealer and it came to c.£44 + VAT for the pipes and rear air vents.

I think that I included all the required parts in my request.

Let me know if you still need any part numbers; i'm likely to be taking mine apart and refitting tomorrow cos this morning the handbrake gaitor came out it's runners.

Thank you. I'm getting there...

Could you confirm the part numbers for the bit of air duct / guide that connects behind the rear air vents and the bit that connects that to behind the stereo, please?

I hope that the big bit is 1Z2 857 509 and the bit behind the rear air vents is 1Z2 857 946.

The dealers computer was broken last week when I was in so he couldn't check for me. Would be great if you could.

Thanks.

I can confirm the part numbers you've written here are indeed correct for the two plastic pipe parts.

Thanks for that. I'll get them ordered next week for when my Jumbo box arrived from Germany!

Are you getting a UK-spec (well, right-hand drive) jumbo delivered from Germany?

Yes. The handbrake is on the correct side and the part numbers match RHD cars.

But you did cause me a minor panic over that...,

Yes that was what I wanted to check, phew!

It's just arrived! Very excited.

All looks very good. Looks just like the Octavia ones i've seen. Right colour & materials. Handbrake on the correct side as well.

No air ducts, which I knew (about £22 inc VAT from the dealer). But also no fixing screws / bolts.

How many (of which type) hold the standard centre console in place?

Does anyone know how many of which type I will need?

Is there anything else I will need?

You can mostly use the existing ones from the centre section you'll be removing, you'll need 2 nuts and bolts to secure the armrest frame to the car and 3 or 4 more small torx screws to attach the rear vent area. Details in my thread I think.

Finally got someone to fit the console & air guides / ducts for me as I just don't seem to have time at the mo....

How much air should come out if the rear air vents?

Not sure if I have a leak somewhere as I get a small air flow that's only noticeable when the (manual) air controls are set to blow at driver's face (not really surprising) and the speed setting is on 2 or higher.

Is this normal, or should I get the guy who fitted it to have another look?

I don't get a massive amount of air out of the rears to be honest either. I expected more, but guess most of it is going to the fronts :D

That makes me feel better about it. Thanks.
