Agree definitely pointless. My vote goes to the Rodius, I would rather drive my Westfield in a thunderstorm with no roof than be seen in the Ssangyong greenhouse

The amazing thing about the Rodius is that it was designed by a Britt!!!!!!!!!!

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SsangYong_Rodius#Design

It is top of the tree for hideousness for sure.

And the winner is..........

Ford KA!!!!!

Ford KA!!!!!

If you mean the current, horrendously ugly, Fiat 500 based excuse for a Ford Ka then yes. If you mean the original then no. As crappy as they are now (vs the modern competion like a VW Up!) they still look like nothing else, handled very neatly apparently, did what it said on the tin and lasted the test of time. As a cheap, no frills, easy to repair city runabout the first Ka was hard to beat.

Just read Wiki, "Collapsing bus shelter on wheels":rofl:

Righto...

Zafira - Eye bleedingly unpleasant and driven exclusively by retards.

Mum had one of these and it was great, with a ramp you could get a 200kg mobilty scooter in the back and once it was loaded the handling was actually acceptable. ie, no longer boatlike. :)

Land Rover Discovery (model years 1989-1998)

No! This was the original and best Discovery. Easy to fix (OK, so they went wrong a lot!) with effectively a more comfortable body on a Defender running gear. Seriously underrated offroad and far more "fit for purpose" than the modern Land Rovers which you can't take round the world unless you take various electronic spare parts and computer equipment with you.

Mercedes G-Wagon

Any 2wd that looks like a 4x4.

Any bluemotion, greenline super eco car. Spend an extra £3k to save £500.

G-Wagon is very good. Sure it's a bit agricultural, but it's a workhorse. In fact it's probably the best utility based workhorse around, which coming from a Land Rover fan is saying something... People love the Defender, but it's not a good car.

What's wrong with a 2WD that looks like a 4x4? More space and a better driving position, plus a bit more ground clearance for tracks and grass. Why burn the extra fuel for 4x4 if you don't need it. Most people who have a 4x4 only need a 2WD with winter tyres anyway...

Spend an extra 3k on an eco car to save £500? Err... my Greeline II Fabia cost slightly less than the least powerful Elegance that's slower. Plus it comes with a good selection of kit as standard. Plus it saves me £1000 a year in fuel and £8 per day each time I go into central London. Win! :D

For me it's just really odd cars. Many of the ones listed on this thread are fine, even if they are not what people here would actually buy.

With regards to a previous poster about a ka. I've driven an older one- 2004 duratec 1.3, nippy little car, handled quite well and cheap to run! I don't think it's worthy of being called a pointless worthless car lol!

However the Freelander was a *c r a p* car! My dad had one as a company car and it was pants!!!

Let's take a trip down memory lane

Austin Allegro for it's square steering wheel

Austin 1300 vanden plas just because it was positive earth and my new Matsui stereo wouldn't work in it

Austin Maxi 1750 just because the gear stick was like a spoon in poridge

Lancia Beta more holes than a pin cusion

Feel free to add to the list of "old school" rubbish

Roomster. They look like a hot dog van.

Pontiac Aztek.

Mazda Bongo Friendee. (Yes, that is its real name!)

Are you joking? handled quite well? If you saying it doesnt fall in that group then it pointless to make threads as this.

Opinion is like hole in xxx. Everyone has its own.

Thank you Im out. :giggle:

Isn't it funny how different people have different ideas.

I had 2 Freelanders over 7 years. Each did nearly 100k miles, and the only things I ever replaced were the usual things like tyres and brakes. Both were off-roaded often and sometimes quite severely. Were used for towing everything from caravans to Air Ambulance helicopters.

If the new one had been cheaper I would be driving one now.

Austin Allegro for it's square steering wheel

And had better aerodynamics in reverse than forward!

Austin 1300 vanden plas just because it was positive earth and my new Matsui stereo wouldn't work in it

But at that time nearly every car was positive earth as they had DYNAMO's!! Wasn't that difficult to convert them to alternators and negative earth.

Austin Maxi 1750 just because the gear stick was like a spoon in poridge

First one with the cable change were terrible, but when they fitted the rod change it was better. I had a 1750HL with twin carbs that was a great Q car, but didn't like corners too much.

Lancia Beta more holes than a pin cusion

Rusted quicker than the paint dried!!

Mazda Bongo Friendee. (Yes, that is its real name!)

Got a friend with one of those - he's quite taken by it!

smartcar anyone? particularly the roadster.

Edited by J242

Smart cars of any form.

Usual driven by women who dont seem to check where they are going and just pull out anywhere without looking. Or boys who think their Coupe/Roadster is a mini-AMG and dont realise how stupid they actualy look!

Trikes! Not really a car I know but also not a bike. All the downsides of both without any benefits of either.

However the Freelander was a *c r a p* car! My dad had one as a company car and it was pants!!!

The mark one, yes. But the freelander two is a very good car.

Just shows how far ahead of its time it was! All the F1 designers have finally caught up recently. Quite a lot of space for the size of car. In fact the 'New Mini' is really the 'New Allegro'; it's the same shape and size, although there is less space inside. Build quality was a bit iffy, but that was pretty common in those days.

Mind you, the current Mini, in all it's guises would be on my list of pointless cars. It's expensive, it's short on space and it's b****y uncomfortable to ride in.

I'd also nominate the Datsun 1600, it rusted nearly as fast as a phase 1 Vauxhall Victor (which made the Lancia Beta look positively long lived).

What about the Alpha Sud, it was supposed to be Italian flair with Japanese reliability but inevitably it had Japanese flair with Italian reliability. That was another rust bucket.

Rob.

Wasn't that the Alfa Arna? It was still rubbish, the Sud was the GTI of its day, only it also rusted faster than a fast thing on a fast track to the scrapyard.

Speaking of waste of time Mercs to add to this list:

The Mercedes Vaneo.

As to the G-wagen: I'd have one TOMORROW! I love their anti-style squareness. And the sound the AMG V8 versions make.

You can buy a G-Wagen at the moment powered by a V12 BiTurbo. Not really sure how you're ever going to make use of that much power but it has a lot of bragging rights, and just the thought of a twin turbo V12 in a bus does make me laugh.

:smirk: Skoda Estelle...awful car with evil handling, never understood why anyone bought those. :p
