Parking assist and Cruise Control extras

Featured Replies

I've bought a 12 month old VRS which I hopefully collect on Thursday. However, I remember seeing a couple of things with have confused me.

First off, it had what I assumed were blanking plates in the back bumper, which I thought were for the parking sensors. Thing is, looking at pictures of other octys, they dont have them. Does this mean that it actually has the extra and noone's noticed?

Also, on the stalks (on steering wheel, for indicators etc), there was some strange buttons. Meant to ask someone what they were and forgot! Could they have been Cruise Control? Cant find any pictures on the net to compare.

Anyways, end of the week I'll be a VRS driver, no doubt getting laughed at for driving a Skoda !

Cheers

Not sure on the parking sensors, but I would guess that you have them. It sounds like you do indeed have cruise fitted as well.

Welcome to Briskoda. It looks very as if you have been lucky with the extra options fitted. :D

Are you sure the buttons on the stalk are not just the ones for the trip computer?

Sounds like you have got parking sensors though.

Cruise buttons are on the (left) indicator stalk. Trip buttons are on the (right) wiper, washer and headlight dip stalk.

Aye that's the stalk, so looks like I've done well :D

I did do a very little reverse yesterday in it, heard a beep when I first put it in reverse. Dont remember any others though.

you can tell if its got parking sensors, as soon as your select reverse you will hear a beep this lets you know the parking sensors are working.

The beeping doesn't start until you get within 1.8 metres of the object behind you. It takes a bit of a leap of faith to rely on it............I had my Octy checked out because I didn't think the sensors were working. Turned out that I was just cr@p at judging distance :o:o

IIRC factory fitted parking sensors are located in the bumper whereas dealer fit/aftermarket ones are in the rubbing strip.

I have a picture of factory fit ones in my gallery!!! :)

Welcome to the club :)

as soon as you select reverse you get a beep to indicate that the parking sensors are engaged.
