4 days on and 335 miles on the clock - still loving every minuet. The car has logged 35 mpg on the computor. I love the fact that i didn't know about a lot of things on the car, like the little storage bit under the passenger seat, or the bit where the indicator stays on for a few tick tocks if you blip it, or if you squirt the wipers, it wipes away, waits a few seconds then wipes again. I feel like an explorer in new teretory :D

Yup, lots of little surprises :)

I'm still enjoying mine every time I get in it since I picked it up on 1st March. Found the hidden compartment inside the glovebox yet? ;)

The washer low warning light/beep is handy! I've never seen a car with one of those before either....

I haven't found the glove box drug stash holdr yet, but i will explore, but i forgot to mention the fuel light noise. Scared the poo out of me when that went off. Don't tell me there is another noise for the washer bottle. I will have a heart attack before long - lol :)

Yup, same noise. Apparently you get the same if you don't clip your rear seats back in properly too. There's a thread here somewhere with a few more, unless you'd rather find them for yourself

glad your having fun mate :D

hehe

I'm used to all the warning sounds now but its always funny when you give someone a lift and they are like,

'whats going on...is your car alright'

'Yeah, its just telling me I need to put in washer fluid soon'

'blimey, it does that?'

'yes, doesnt your beemer... :D'

Sometimes its like being in a plane, especially the cold weather 'bong' :D

The worse beeper ever is the alarm after 120kmph...bloody annoying...thankfully, had it removed.

It also does it if you try and drive off and your passenger hasn't fully closed their door .... or the back passenger door .... or the boot ....

The rear wash wipe when you select reverse if you have the front wipers on & the fan blower changing to recirc when you select reverse - both freaked me out.

Mine doesn't do that.... It'd certainly be turned off pronto if it did!!

Mine neither. Nor in mph :)

I've always wondered why the fan changes to recirc. when you select reverse... is there a point?

 Cheers...

It's probably available on other cars but i've never seen it before. I like the wiper custom delay time switch that comes in handy when it is very slow rain and the standard slow windscreen wipe is still to quick for the amount of rain that is failing. You can toggle the little switch until it is the right speed wipe for the situation.. I can actually remember thinking I needed something like this while driving other cars in the past and now I have one.

There's probably a proper name which i'm sure someone will tell me. ;)

Don't know if it has a proper name, but I've seen advertised as variable speed intermittent wipers. The Disco had them too and they're very useful. Shame there isn't a custom setting so you can set your own interval though :)

Another nice feature is if you push the stalk down when the wipers are off, you get a single sweep :D

Chris

edit: was a ****: was going to mention the rear wipe when going into reverse. Missread the quote. :slap:

I've found the cruise very handy too - it works at pretty low speeds, unlike the US cars I drove about whilst I was there.

The cruise disengages when you change gears as well though. It was great when I was stuck behind a police officer doing 20-35 mph in a 30mph zone. Kept creeping up on it, at which point they booted it, then slowed down again. Not sure had I sped up with them if that would have been entrapment but I was just not gonna try that one out ;)

lol reminds me of a friend of mine *cough* who was driving down the Mthingy recently between somewhere and London where everyone seems to do about 90mph. A group of car's suddendly came up against a police van cruising at 70mph in the slow lane and the whole group just came to a 'invisible line' behind it with drivers stuck in the fast lane suddenly doing 70mph all glancing at each other to see if anyone was brave enough to move ahead of the police van.

What made it look worse was there was nothing in front of the police van which made it look like some kind of 3 lane funeral procession al beit at 70mph.

Luckily after this riduculous senareo had gone on for about 5 minutes they came up against a group of slower moving traffic and everything got a bit more fluid and people managed to break away from the group. I guess you may have to had been there to appreicate the humour of the situation but i'm sure others have experienced this and had a chuckle at the sillyness of it.

I have seen that loads of times. I generally do 80 in good conditions past the police, and in 8 years it has never caused a problem. But i have seen the same pile of Passat TDI's parked next to police cars before, then i just sail past the lot :) - lol

Vauxhall Cavalier CDX's from 1992 onwards ;)

Don't forget, 80 indicated is more like 75 or even less in actual road speed, so on the '10% plus 2' principle, you ought to be fine as long as the road's not slippy or it's foggy or some such...

Not that I'm condoning exceeding the speed limit in any way of course.
