Getting our yeti delivered tomorrow!

Featured Replies

Progress report..

After my wifes accidentwe searched for a replacement to no avail until the plumber saved the day and found a 110 elegance4x4 demo in kent !

Due to work commitments i decided not to fly to London , Kent and to organise transport. I put my details on several sites where they bid for the job. Eventually i got a quote under the £400 mark inc vat . I accepted it and was told it would be collected on tuesday then delivered friday. Then i was told that he had driven his alotted hours due to tacograph restrictions and would collect it wednesday. Then on wednesday he said it was to windy. Friday it was finally collected to my delight. Then i received a text saying truck had broken down so would take a while to get fixed to which i replied saying i dont mind waiting a few days. Then another text saying wont be fixed until friday at the earliest and that he would rather drive it up as he would have a huge backlog of work.

I then argued that i had payed for a service to have it delivered and i got quoted 300 to drive it up to which i was told it would cost him more to pay someone to drive it up. The whole situation hasnt went well at all. I have visions of someone thrashing my new yeti 300 miles up the road! As long as i recieve it in one piece i will be happy.

Now all we need is some snow to test the 4x4 and new winter tyres and see what the yeti is capable off .

One more question does any one know how to re fit the skoda dog guard as the gharage said they didnt have the correct template?

Is it just a case of drilling holes and threading them with a tap and die set?

Sorry but no way would I allow it to be driven up.

Sounds fishy to me.

Hasn't he broken his contract with you in effect?

I'd wait until I could find time to collect it. Can't you fly down and drive back in a day?

I do hope it's fine when you get it, Andy emoticon-0148-yes.gif

Hi Andy I would want a partial refund if they are to drive the car up for you they have broke the agreed contract.

I hope you get things sorted and enjoy your new monster.

3 more sleeps for me ha ha cant wait.

Hi Andy, what a mix up for you.

I know you are busy just now which is a pity, for your 400 or even 300 you could have flown down and had an overnight before driving back up. The wife and I did this and it was a good trip, I'd certainly do it again. I didn't want anyone delivering my car although its probably no worse than what the mechanics do to the car when they take it out.

Hope you get sorted to your satisfaction.

Sorry to hear the trouble you've been through and i hope it all works out. Useless companies, get whatever you can out of the deal and name and shame them to try and save others going through the same.

As a Yeti driver who after over 3 months and 1000miles has only just had the nerve to get over 70mph i would have volunteered to drive it for you for the cost of the flight back!!! I'm not that far from the supplying dealers. But i completely understand wanting it delivered. I like to have as few people drive my car as possible.

Good luck, hope it goes well from here.

I was told he collected it in a one car transporter although as the garage is getting renovated he parked down the street and they didnt see it but assured me he must have a transporter as he gave garage a business card.

The whole things fishy as he never answers phone just txts although i did speak once. I asked for a discount as it wasnt as discussed. He told me it had cost him more as he doesnt do tradeplate driving and had to pay someone else. Its been excuse after excuse. I have paid 200 uppfront and he wants another2 200 on delivery. Not sure what would happen if we refused to pay full amount as they have car Wish i had driven it myself now., To make things worse my vans broken down and needs a new injector!

i would have collected it from him but its 300 miles as he had already taken it halfway up to his store. I just wander if he drove it all the way up as no one seen the truck.

I was going to name and shame him but then i thaught maybe he is genuine and his truck did break down. He keeps saying he is really stressed out ehich isnt very professional. I said that i wanted discount as i had payed to have it delivered on truck he said " I no its not ideal but i have tried my upmost even with all the problems ive got i always put my customers first i hope you relise this!" If i text again saying i wont pay in full he can tell the guy to turn around. I will get the milage that it left dealer with and not sure what i will do if its been driven the full 600 miles. Guess its safer just to pay up. I will let u no how the exchange goes hopefully smoother than the process so far

You have paid to have it transported, if its not then your at least due a big discount. You should not suffer or pay for his problems however unfortunate they may be.

You are right, of course, but this guy has Andy's car which he needs, has paid and waited for. high principle is fine but reality is sometimes less easy.

Hope it arrives OK!

To true . Not worth losing the car trying to save a few quid . I made him promice to fill up thetank as i had blagged a full tank from dealer. I guess the more i think about it he has to pay the guy, fill tank after the 300 or 600 miles then he said he has to pay his train fair. Plus a hotel as he said at 4 pm it was on the way and expect midmorning so he cant have made much. Next i imagine he will want a lift 15 ile each way to train station meaning taking time off work. I cantdecide if he is genuine and unlucky or a chancer.

i asked for a reference at start and got a name but no contact number of a guy at a manager at bmw garage that he transports new cars for.

Will give you an update tomorrow

I'm sure we all want the outcome to be fine for you!

Fingers crossed emoticon-0148-yes.gif

Sounds like he went for weekend away at the nurburgring to me lol

But seriously i would be looking at checking the mileage as sounds like a complete con to me and he is blagging it

I had a similar story from a guy on shiply that offered to move an old Landrover I bought on ebay for me from Hampshire to Essex.

If it was true I've never heard such bad luck, but a two day delivery turned into three weeks!

He had the works, truck break down, replacement stopped and unable continue thanks to VOSA... and that was only moving a £2000 vehicle 115 miles!

Good luck, hope it turns up OK. Mine did in the end.

I think you need to find a way of getting the upper hand. At the moment the chips seem to be stacked in his favour, he has your Yeti, somewhere in the country.

Play along until you get delivery then have a good check over your new purchase to see that everything is okay. See how many miles are on the odometer to determine how far it has been driven.

You have obviously entered into a contract for means of delivery which hasn't been kept so you could rightly ask to be compensated. However it doesn't sounds like you would get much joy as it stands at the moment.

When he delivers your monster pay by cheque, tell him that you had problems getting cash.

Once he's gone cancel the cheque and then you're in the driving seat to be able to renegotiate a satisfactory conclusion to the episode. If he's not happy threaten him with trading standards.

Sorry for suggesting something a little underhand but sometimes needs must.

Good luck, and enjoy the SM.

I wouldn't press too hard for him to fill the tank...It'll probably be red diesel.

I think you have to take it on the chin and put it down to experience....He knows where you live. emoticon-0106-crying.gif

Did you purchase it from a main dealer ?

sent from being stood in front of a mirror looking like Santa using Tapatalk.

Ouch! I'd have driven it up for you for £200!!!!!!!!! :giggle: :giggle: Or rented a trailer and towed it up (if you preferred) with my Yeti for £200 plus trailer rental! LOL Had I only known.

It is very easy to disconnect the speedo cable from the gearbox (as far as I know). Then he drives the car all the way (without a speedo of course and some warning lights on but not that difficult to keep to the speed limit), connects it again around the corner from you and voila you have a car with the original miles yet it has covered hundreds... Probably less of an issue since it is a demo and it does not have 8 miles on the clock like mine had at delivery...

Good luck. Hope you get it soon.

Wow the suspense - I hope you've had a good outcome?

Interesting that you managed to do the deal without visiting the supplying dealer.

I was interested in an ex-demo Yeti a few weeks ago and the main reason I didnt go ahead was the Skoda dealer's insistence that I had to do the deal in person at the dealership; no way would they do it at a distance due to the "Distance Selling Regs". As the car was in the East and I live in the NW the logistics where to great so I didnt do the deal !

Purely of academic interest now I have ordered a new car but anyone else has such issues ?

Hmmmm - I bought a BMW Z4 from Broughty Ferry - and part of that was a free delivery to Brecon in Wales.

Andy - i hope it works out, cos with this ruddy weather you will need it.

G

I really want to know how you got on!

Sorry for the delayed reply i was working till 7 last night then emptying the alloys out the boot, hoovering and putting in our rubber mats and fitting the wheel trims to the steel rims then by 9.30 wife was hogging the computer so i went to bed as i get up at 5.30 and it had been someday!

Yes thats right our yeti arrived in one piece after alot of arguements.

I was told to expect delivery around mid morning and a phone call an hour before delivery. I tried to call the guy who allegedly collected my car on a transporter and got no reply so i text saying i wanted a fuel receipt as im self employed. No problem he replied call this number and speak to driver 9 am i rang asking how far up the road he was he said im at your house...

I asked him what happend to the call?? He replied i called the number and said im phoning about the new car delivery and the guy replied i wish it was for me ill give you my adress!! He had been given the wrong number. I told him to head 3 miles back down the road to the house im working in.20mins later he arrived with a rather messy yeti. I introduced myself and quickly checked the milage which i was told was 3540. I was told it was 300 miles from his store so expected 3840. but instead it read 4032 !

I queried the innocent looking driver asking if he new the guy but he didnt so i angrily phoned him.. No reply shock.. Then to my surprise he rang back. I said it appears you have driven my car all the way up do you even own a transporter as no one has seen it . He insisted that he did. I said you said it would be driven 300 miles not 500. To which he replied you might want to ask the guy sitting next to you where hes driven your car. I said do you wnt to speak to him?? no no your alrite

He then did a distance check from potters bar i think it was to my place. Oh i might have under estimated the distance. And more to the point the full tank i was given by dealer that i was assured would be full was just over half to which the gury paid to drive it up told me he was told to put £40 in!!

By now i was raging mad and told him no way im paying full. I pad £40 less and told guy on phone thats the end of story. Then i had to take 30mins off work plus use my break driving guy to trainstation and arguing on phone .Customer im working for wasnt amused. What a service! kind of took the shine off things.

Still glad its home it looks totally different in moscovado to my old candy white. Seems alot noiser a starter motor when u start it than my 2wd 110? more like my 54 plate polo i had with the old type engines? A lot more rattly like a tractor. Also not as tight as old 110 maybe its been thrashed being a demo. Still love it to bits really missed our yeti just need to fit the 3 mud flaps i salvaged after crash(1 lost) and attempt to fit the skoda dog guard any tips on dog guard?Garage said you need a template to drill holes? Excuse my awful typing i have had my 6 month old asleep in my now dead right arm as my wifes working!

Gosh you have had a rough day! Delighted you have the Yeti at last and looking forward to hearing more of your impressions when you have had some time to enjoy it.

The extra miles won't mean a thing over the life of the car.

Glad to hear it's arrived safely Andy but what a nightmare getting her delivered; think the outfit you used must have their headquarters in Arizona :S

Oh the 110 4x4 has the same engine as the 2wd 110, just a different box and state of tune.

CFH engine family codes;

CFHA = 110 2wd, 250 Nm torque

CFHC = 140 4x4, 320 Nm torque

CFHF = 110 4x4, 280 Nm torque.

Would think it will settle down once you get using her regularly into your style of driving.

Regards,

TP

I'm glad it arrived intact.
