Barum Bravuris 2

Featured Replies

Been a bit doubtful about the grip of my new "summer" tyres in wet wintry conditions after switching from Michelin Primacy. Nothing I could really put my finger on, driving moderately. But the recent snowy conditions gave me a chance to test things further. No traction control intervention as yet, even when I attempted to provoke wheelspin on a thin layer of frozen snow/ frozen slush. ABS did kick in when I braked deliberately sharply on a quiet road.

But so far- not bad at all Barum.

I got through last winter with -17C and two feet of snow and ice on a pair of new Maxxis MAZ1 summer tyres. A bit of common sense and you can get by (but yes winter tyres would have been better).

I had these on my PD140 Octy Estate.

Worked perfectly well for me and as said if you exercise common sense then you should be fine.

I've just stuck some of these on mine.

They are actually made by Continental btw.

Heard good things and they seem good so far although we haven't had any wintery conditions here yet.

I work in Buxton where we are over 300m up which seems to be where the serious snow usually starts.4-5" of snow last week and a little bit again last night. Did my tyre research and Barums seemed a good balance of quality and price. Was disappointed in the poor mileage for the replacement, expensive, Michelins which I'd put on the front last year.

They've been OK in the recent snow up North but since they are fitted to a barge (estate) then I don't fancy any summer tyres when the good stuff hits. Pretty competent in the slush (so far) but then again, keeping the speed down and driving to conditions should be the order of the day. Probably will switch to an all season tyre once the Barum's wear out. However, they have been excellent during the summer, very decent grip & handling, regardless of running them at standard pressures or those for a full load. Wet weather performance has been impressive compared to any Kumho's or Dunlops I've had on other cars. Haven't got the £'s to checkout top end Contis!

These Barum's are underrated - but don't care 'cos as soon as they get popular then the price will go up accordingly!

Agree - I have had them on my Octy for almost 2 years and I'm impressed with the wear and their capability in various weather conditions.

I thought these tyres were slightly on the noisey side at motorway speeds however do rate them.

So far mine seem to be quieter than the OE Michelins but that may change as they wear.

Negotiated a steep and narrow road, both ways, in the snow on Sunday. No wheel spin and no wheel locking when driving cautiously.
