Remap limbo

Featured Replies

Me personally......would be a tough choice to be honest.

You have spent a lot of time on here and other forums convincing people how good Shark performance are as a company, it even pushed me forward to speak to Ben about remapping my car. I think if a tuner that spent so much time setting up your car etc etc and making it spot on warns you about taking the engine too far then they are probably wise words. Obviously there are people that will be running higher powered 1.4 TSi's and people are always going to try and push the boundaries more. I believe with your car the way it currently is, if you sorted out handling mods and brakes then it would be an absolute weapon without the need for more power.

That said if you really want to go the hybrid route then you should probably go for APR as you have said Revo seem to push for the biggest power figure. If I was going to spend thousands making mine a hybrid I'd want the most reliable solution not the one with the biggest power figure

Well, I think this has made my mind up

Rainworth are local to me as well

Got a response from Rainworth about the Revo remap they offer.

Hi we are a Skoda dealer and have no issues with warranty claims on

remapped cars, the revo remapping keeps everything safe on the car, the

map does not show on the Skoda dealer computers as being done, and will

give no issues with the car as revo try and test them prior to releasing

them to the network. IF (AND THAT'S A MASSIVE IF) the ECU failed because

of the map then it would be sorted out via us / Revo. All other items on

the car would be covered by the Skoda warranty

.

thats a great backup service if ever ive seen one

That's an interesting post, considering what the chap who applies the Revo maps at Rainworth told me last week.

I'll confirm myself first but some remap warranty support on these can only be a good thing. Horton skoda seem to have this point of view as well.

Plus they're demo car uses it as well.

What did this chap say out of interest?

That ODIS can immediately tell if a car is remapped, and as it's an online system all information is available to the manufacturer. This was from a dealer bulletin.

Gotcha thought you meant the warranty. I've always thought the dealers could findout aanyway

It can see if the car is remapped atm, but if you remap it before you drop it off at your dealer they won't notice a thing (tested with V-tech atleast).

When my car was last serviced, it was plugged into this online system... It checked the map that was on my car against it's database for updates, and auto updated it with the map that cures the lumpy cold idle...
