Charging Car Battery

Featured Replies

Father-in-law has just phoned to say he was just about to put his car battery on charge (mk1 Superb tdi Elegance ),and does he need to disconnect it from the car before he does?

I said i always leave mine connected when charging.

So. do you need to disconnect before charging, and what do you do?

I never do.

As long as it's a half decent charger it'll be fine.

Official line is to disconnect the battery, but that involves using a memory saver power supply plugged into the ciggy socket. Charging at trickle rate on the car is fine, provided it's a decent charger that's used.
