I was thinking... Just thinking about going for a revo map with the 10% off an SPS free means £430 instead of £630

What I wanted to know is wether revo offered a warranty? Incase there was ever a problem and Å koda said no chance on warranty work where would I stand?

This was the main reason I've got my TMC box instead of a remap, so I can remove it when it goes into Å koda

REVo dont offer a warranty, however if you get it done at a Skoda dealership who offer REVO then you will retain a warranty with them as long as they want to honour it, they could of course deny you that cover at any time

Thought that but there's none near by only a seat dealer in Manchester which is pretty useless as they're not going to repair a Škoda if anything went wrong lol

What's the likelyhood of something going wrong with a Revo map anyway ?

You could say almost anything about any mod you care to mention, changing your bulbs to HID, fitting an aftermarket exhaust, filters etc, but if everyone was to leave their cars as bog standard, where's the owners choice in that ?

If you want to remap your car, look at the 'chances' that you take (I believe that most of them are completely unfounded)as I have modded & mapped my last 3 cars without a single cough, splutter or problem whatsoever.

If I have problems with my VRS because it can't cope with +10% power upgrade, then the VW group isn't the engineering force it once was and wont be getting any more of my money. I think the chances of that are minimal, at best.

The previous VRS coped with 30% more power without ANY issues (including the clutch) in my personal experience.

It's your car, enjoy it ! We're a long time dead.

Thanks for your input mate, I have mapped two of my previous cars but I had the ability to remove it. If your car went into limp mode tomorrow, you took it to the dealers and they said new pistons an fuel pump, here's a bill for £1500 (example) because it has been modified and isn't running standard software are you going to be happy?

The only reason I'm asking as these engines seem to be very fragile? Just go on SCN there's a lot of members had new engines and even more had new piston rings and even more had software updates!

Theres also the DSG to consider, that's not going to be cheap to replace/ repair if any thing was to go wrong and if your pushing more power out than standard they will blame it straight away.

I bought the car knowing about the problems some have been having but still loved the drive of it, and like the extra performance I just don't think I could afford anything to go wrong and get a big bill for it of I had a remap that can go detected

Just how many of these engines / gearboxes have been fitted to the entire VW 'family' ?

My guess that it's many thousands.

The issues will always be discussed on the forums as it's the first place to go for a moan.

Don't get me wrong, I understand the concerns, and of course the crap that some owners have to endure when they have warranty issues, but in reality, the described problems with the 1.4TSi are minute in comparison to the amount of units in current use. If there were a serious problem, VW would have these units recalled, no doubt about it.

The ibiza cupra has had this engine for around a year longer. In that time there have been new injectors, maps, piston rings, spark plugs, fuel pumps etc. The early engines were flawed, look at the ages of tge ones that have blown. All early engines.

Yeh jonny that's why I went for it after reading all the trouble, there have been millions produced it goes in nearly all vag models now and the number of faulty ones will probably <1%.

Si I see a lot of 09MY ones had big trouble but there's a few 10's and 11's having trouble including a few on here

Bringing this up again to ask this:

Are there any timed 0-60s (or 30-50, 50-70 etc.) of a revo tuned vRS to show the approximate gain in short-dist acceleration compared to the factory car?

I am not talking about cars with additional mods, just the ones who've had the Stage 1 revo remap only.

I've not timed mine at all. But one thing's for sure, you'll be VERY happy with the results emoticon-0100-smile.gif

While you're there, get some H&R springs fitted for the saving that you made on the re-map emoticon-0148-yes.gif

jonny where did you get yours done?

I'm in France, so I will be removing the ECU and sending it to UK if I finally go down that way (to be decided later on this year) so not easy to fit these springs lol!

Still I'd be interested to hear some approximate times just to get an idea, although I think a 6.5" is not very optimistic is it?

Well im sure trading standards would have something to say about that? we cant sell a customer something and tell them its covered under warrenty and then when something goes wrong tell them actualy nah we changed our minds its not covered lol (thats illegal) And if something is covered under skoda warrenty then it doesnt matter weather the dealereship you take it to to have it fixed under warrenty are participating in the remapping process because its not the dealership that pays the cost, all costs are credited to the dealership once the work is complete. with any car warrenty ford skoda kia whoever it doesnt matter.... If the item(s) are covered under manufacture warrenty then you can take it to any manufacture dealership to have the repair work done. the job card gets raised all labour and parts involved go onto the job card it's then put through a system called or similer to one-link to which skoda will then credit the individual dealership the full cost of parts and labour.

A while ago I exchanged a few emails with Rainsworth (I think) who do the Revo maps. They seemed happy to honour the warranty and said as much in the emails (They as in Rainsworth, Skoda UK may take a different line).

Would the dealership you work for fix a revo remapped car under warranty?
