Remote key fob issue

Featured Replies

I'm pretty much familiar with the VAG key fob, but maybe there's more to this one than I knew about.

firstly, the centre button for opening the boot doesn't work ?

Secondly, there's a little annoying feature in that you need to click the open button twice to open the rest of the doors (including the boot) It probably annoys the Wife moreso than me when it's peeing down though ... :giggle:

I was VERY lucky last night ....

I went out to the car this morning and both front windows were down the same distance (about 3") good job it didn't rain, or I would have been in it !

I'm convinced that it's an issue with the remote and the way that it's been set up.

Your thoughts.

1) The centre button for the boot is meant to unlock it not open it, at least that's how it is in mine, pretty useless If you ask me. I was wondering how on earth can somebody waste so much space (1 more button) for such a useless feature (just push the normal Unlock button) but I figured as it was adopted by VW, where the buttonactually opens the boot it kind of made sense.

2) In mine, one click unlocks all doors, that's the way it came from the factory and that's the way to be imho, so If its not like that in yours, I assume it can get re-programmed to do this.

3) Never had any issues with windows going down yet, but Ive read many similar issues on other VW and Skodas, somebody will be able to provide some advice on this.

Sorry, confused! Did you mean you found out that It can't open the boot, just unlock it (as I suggested), or you found a way to actually make it unlock and open the boot itself?

3 is usually caused by keeping the key in your pocket and something pressing the unlock button. keeping the unlock button pressed the windows will open, then after 30 seconds the car will lock as no door has been opened.

Just the boot. Didn't read the manual well enough I guess.

one door/all door opening can be set from the dealer, i got this done as i found the 2 presses annoying

holding down the open button will also open the windows, same if you want to lock and the windows are open, just hold it

the boot just needs a longer press than the mk1

You need to take car in to reprogram the key to open on one click then you will have no issue with the windows, what happens with the two click method you get fustrated and press it several times then the windows will open automatically , so car in they will sort on the maxi dot

I have been having the same problem with the 2 clicks

I find the boot button hugely useful. Just one example. Dog travels in boot, my wellies, his lead, ball etc are in the car. I get all the stuff out and put the wellies on, shut the door and lock the car. I then press the boot button and put the keys away. I can now open the boot, put dog on lead, let him jump out while I'm carrying his ball and when I shut the boot it locks itself, no fiddling about with keys.

I'm not convinced all what you're describing is any close to "everyday necessity", and certainly not a problem which cannot be solved otherwise. You could achieve the same just by leaving your door (or any other door) open before lockin the car. Or another way would be to open the boot but just releasing the lock, leaving it closed but unlocked, then you could do what you want to do and finally closing the boot would again lock the car as you want. I just found 2 alternatives, maybe there are more.

However, what could be an everyday use of the boot button for everybody is exactly what VW cars do, ie, unlocking AND opening the door, for example for when you return to the car from supermarket with hands full of bags (very often). It would ease things up, and you could avoid leaving the bags on the dirty road even for a sec. in order to reach for the key fob and push the unlock button.

i like the boot unlocking to, i often open the boot from my keys which hang in the house and within range of the car, goto said boot and do what i do then close it and its locked, no second pressing, no need for me to carry the keys outside with whatever else ive gone out to the car with.

also no chance of locking the keys in the car either ;)

mate once fully unlocked the car, opened the boot and put his keys on the boot shelf whilst loading, closed the boot and coz he didnt open a door quick enough boom doors locked with keys inside, oh how i did laugh when he phoned me asking for help

Hey, I'm trying to help. I don't say it's an everyday necessity but I find it useful. If you don't, fair enough. Jesus Christ, you would think one extra button on the key fob was the root of all evil. I'm about to give up on this forum, I just don't need this crap.

I've haven't used the boot unlocking much on my Monte, but it is hugely useful on the work Octavia Estate. When we are setting up a new site, you can unlock the boot get all the kit and close the lid knowing it is locked. I use it all the time and think it is a marvellous feature.

The two press can be changed I believe by the dealer. I am indifferent that setting as it has no bearing on me.

Not have the window problem. Hope I don't, but having all the windows open by pressing and holding the button. I'm going to have to have a play with that.
