Our car suffers from this too and has since about 3k miles this summer. The weather hasn't seemed to change it at all for us, we're just waiting for 10k service to raise the issue.

Ive done 6500 miles in mine and i have the same noises, but i have just changed my springs for a set of Eibach lowering springs so ill let you know if the noise stops :)

Mine does it over speed humps in cold weather. Don't know if it's just temperature related and/or damp/salted roads. Usually stops after a good jet washing. Both my Mk 1 vRS's did it too but worse than the Mk 11.

Hi All, thanks for your replies. Its stange but the creaking noise stopped as soon as it warmed up. Robkirby, it will be interesting to find out if the change of springs will resolve your creaking issue. Mosqito, my car creaks over speed bumps too, but only when it was cold, and driven at very low speeds over the speed bumps (less then 20mph). I have also read from one other owner who's had the shockers replaced by the dealer, they have not replied to confirm if this curred the fault. But it does seem to be a number of factors that are causing the creaking noise. Any of you guys have any other thoughts about this? I know this could be a pain to prove to the dealer as they want to hear the noise, which means the weather as to be cold for the creaking noise to occur.

Yep mine does it, again only when it's cold :S

I suppose it's a "characteristic" rather than a fault.
