30mpg round town

40mpg at a steady 60-70

expect 35ish combined

lovely engine, but begs to be mapped to extract real potential. Mines stage1 and at 254bhp and 325lb torque. Sounds sweets aswell!

I average 30, but I do tend to press on!

Sounds pretty good for a four pot. Certainly smooth & easy revving.

Great engine all round.

Sounds ok, would like a bit of more of a deep exhaust tone personally.

I can get 40 mpg on a long journey but averages around 25 total. This could be because I like to drive it like a VRS and can get stuck in the Bristol traffic.

I haven't noticed any change in mpg from stock to stage 1.

I've found around 28 average. Personally I would expect 35 from the diesel.

I average about 28 mpg but most of this are short journeys of less than 10 miles with the odd 200 miler thrown in every now and again. I drive it pretty hard and it's Revo stage 1.

I'm averaging 34mpg at the minute in my Vrs, most of my driving is A road and no motorways. Have only done 4600 miles since picking it up on March1st so the petrol for me was a no brainer rather than waking the neighbours every morning !

The engine note for me in the Petrol Vrs is a bit buzzy tbh could do with sounding a bit more sporty.

28 to 33 on mine but quite a bit of motorway driving

I agree, as stock the engine is 'buzzy', electric almost. Stage 1 definitely improves the engine noise, gives a much more angry sound when pushing it. However a back section exhaust would probably really change it if you wanted a beefier sound. Currently I'm happy, although seriously looking at replacing the DP and going stage 2 after reading a thread on here the other day.

TBH you have to give the TSI some welly before it makes much noise at all. To my ears standard it has a pretty nice sound at higher revs, reminds me a bit of the Fiat 132 twin cam my brother had in the 80s.

Depends on your weekly commute i'd say whether or not to be scared of a petrol.. i have a diesel at mo and i only do 9 miles per day for 4 days then 34 on the other day on the commute.. do about 9k annually, so petrol could be my next move.

when i get petrol from a decent place, 32-34 mpg on average. But thats m25 and city drivin :( . On more flowing motorways i've gotten 40mpg! ;)

35mpg made up of a lot of motorway miles from long trips and a quick but unhindered daily commute of 17 miles.

I used to get 38mpg so I must be using my right foot a bit more now.

Did an 8 - 9 mile journey home last night along the same roads as I used to and from work and averaged 39mpg taking it easy. I'm rarely that disciplined though

Exactly. Thats why I reckon 30-40mpg depending on driver / conditions is about right.

Have to agree though , 40mpg is easily attainable given restraint, just can't seem to find that restraint

I average 28mpg in winter and 30mpg summer, mainly short trips.

Drops a couple of mpg if I use regular unleaded so works out about the same cost and is defo faster with super unleaded.

Mine is a tfsi, the newer engine should be a bit better though
