Time to get started...

... on mods!

Now all the niggles on the car are sorted, apart from a nice little service, I'm getting a list prepared for 'what comes next'.

I now have a nice new clutch on the way, courtesy of gac, which will be fitted before anything else.

This realistically gives me around 380lb/ft headroom to play with, being conservative.

This is my list of thinking so far...

1) Clutch

2) Panel filter (already coming)

3) Milltek non-resonated exhaust system

4) Front mounted intercooler - this is where I'd like some guidance. Firstly, is it really worth it? Second, how much will a decent setup cost and is it easy to fit?

5) Remap

Apart from that, job done. Happy to accept other suggestions though- would a PD150 turbo make a huge difference? Not really going to consider a hybrid turbo as it'll cost a fortune.

Rear arb will transform handling.

don't hold me to it but i had a golf pd150 and i thought the turbos were the same as the 130 it was a few other differences that made the extra power

Rear arb will transform handling.

+ 1 and is quite easy to fit yourself. Plenty of "how to" posts on here.

Noted, will spending a truckload on one make a noticeable difference or is there just some fairly decent, popular one that goes for a song? I'm fairly mechanically-minded...

I seem to remember that the Golf PD150 had maybe a larger front intercooler..? I could be wrong...

Picked up a new amp and wiring kit today, after spending a lot of the day building a sub box for a 10" JBL Power Series sub... not easy!! It may have a small diameter but it's bloody deep (about 6" deep) and the cavity I've hidden it in is about 5.5" deep haha! :giggle:

That was the pre-stages, before we had to cut about a million bits off it so it would fit properly. :giggle:

Got the new panel filter coming this week, and will be uprating my foglights, main beams and sidelights this week too... should be fun!

yeah the 150 had a front mount intercooler and the 130 had a side mount like the 20v turbo. and the mapping was different i don't know of any other differences

As said, Turbo/Front Mount/Map are the only differences between the pd130/pd150.

A stage 1 map with a pd150 turbo/fmic should see you close to 330-350ftlb / 195-200bhp  My PD130 Stage1 with miltek ran 343ftlb & 184bhp, so upgrading to a FMIC/PD150 turbo might not make sense financially.

Don't forget the other bits, Suspension/Brakes

Thanks Matt :) I'll look into the suspension and brakes when the time is right. Brakes are pretty good at the mo and I'm not really a B-road Batterer anymore, so suspension's not too much of a fuss... it is a bit pudding-like though! :giggle:
