Got my new Wheels on

Featured Replies

Finally got the chance to get my Tyres put on my new wheels, really happy with how they look on the car - especially the colour!

There is also an Eibach Pro spring kit sat in my lounge now waiting to be fitted but here's the pics of the car as it stands :-) Also got a nice new gearknob insert from a mate which is a huge improvement in my eyes!

Yes

Spiffing.

Needs the eibachs though..

I like your knob (phnar phnar!). Definitely needs lowered now though!

you will have too keep away from them curbs with those wheels

Already looks lowered to me, about the same height as mine on eibach pros. Don't think it needs to be any lower looks good as it is.

I was just thinking that looks like Newbury when I saw your tag . . . really nice wheels, hope you can stay away from the kerb.

Look lovely, they just need a clean ;)

Already looks lowered to me,

Are we looking at the same pictures?!

:p

Looks good, I especially love that gear knob...where can I get one?

Are we looking at the same pictures?!

:p

when i looked originally it was on my mobile but to be honest it still does look lower than stock. The back looks ok but the front a bit high.

THEY LOOK CRAP!

I just happen to have some standard ones I can swop with you, just to help you out. :p

Congratulations you are one of the very select few to have the FUBAR seal of approval on non stock rims

Thanks mate, the Eibachs are here waiting to be fitted!!

Definitely, they have quite a low offset so stick out fairly far compared to standard so even less room for error but to be fair the standard 18's would have kerbed easily too so it's the same as usual, just have to tell the wife to be careful too!

It's a bit of a cheat as in the boot are the original wheels and also the set of new springs so it's sat lower in that pic.

Thanks mate, are you local too then?

Yeah as above it has a load of stuff in the boot there.

Haha thanks for the kind offer!

Very nice of you to say, thanks!

Very nice mate, just to echo the previous comments, get the Eibachs on asap! Out of interest, are they 18 or 19"?

Thanks mate!

They're 18's running 225/40's

Can't wait to get the springs on now but at least I'll appreciate them as I'm getting used to how it looks currently haha.

How do you replace the gear-knob?

That looks fantastic but agree its a little pricey

Thanks mate!

Must be the style because they look big!! It will look superb with 20-30mm shaved off the ride height.

Iirc you only have to put a small screwdriver in the bottom of the metal part then push it up, once off the new one clicks in.......I think!

Having looked again [not on phone this time!] I'd agree. Doesn't need to be lowered much so the Eibachs will do the trick nicely :)

Thanks guys, should be lowering it next week now so looking forward to it. Yeah gear know insert was removed by pushing up with a small flat blade

My vRS already has trouble with speed bumps - I have to go really slowly over them (walking pace) or the bottom of the car scrapes. Not sure it would even be driveable if it was lowered! Although I suppose it may have been lowered already by the previous owner, since I haven't noticed anyone else complaining about this on the standard car. My Impreza (with Prodrive suspension upgrade) has no trouble with the bumps, other than removing your fillings as it is such a hard ride!

Sounds like it's definitely been lowered, surely you can tell looking at it? Mine sits pretty high and I can't imagine it bottoming out on anything to be honest....

Only other thing is if your shocks have gone, is it a bouncey ride but still sits low?

I'm a bit mentally deficient as far as spatial awareness is concerned, so not good at telling whether it has been lowered. Here are a couple of pics, plus one of the inside of the front wheel arch. I don't think the shocks have gone since if I lean on a corner (with my modest 100kg weight) it returns to position quite neatly without more than a small upward bounce over neutral (say 6 inches at most).

These photos are with 16 inch wheels on it for my winter tyres. But same rolling radius as the 18 inch wheels it came with.

EDIT: although it's a 4 year old car it has done less than 19k miles.
