Glow Plug Light Flashing Intermittently

Featured Replies

My Glow Plug light has started to flash intermittently. Looking at previous posts it looks like it could be a brake switch problem. Could it be anything else?

I have looked at the 'how to' guide and it mentions to disconnect the light switch. Can i just remove the fuses for the dipped beam and brake lights instead?

If I decide to do it myself, what are the ramifications of not having the fault codes cleared?

Thanks for any help.....Chip

Defo the brake light switch, easy enough to change, just rotate 45 degrees left and remove.

Thanks for the reply. Do I need to disconnect anything first?

Just the wiring connector to the switch, a bit fiddly as you are lying upside down for access.

Hey Moggy Tech

Really appreciate the assistance and advice. The warning light stopped flashing for almost a week but returned yesterday. I checked my brakes and they still light up. Could it be anything else other than the brake light switch?

Thanks again...Chip

It's worth replacing the switch anyway, as it's a cheap and easy fix. If it still flashes, suspect glow plug relay or glow plug(s).

Mine was doing this last winter and it ended up being one of the fuses

Again, many thanks for the help. Do I need to get the fault code cleared (assuming there is one)to stop the light flashing? I've also read on another thread that these switches are easy to break if they are not installed correctly. Is this true or does it apply to old versions of the switch?
