Think i may be coming back to the Skoda fold....

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Well after having the "temporary" Lexus for over a year now i've finally decided what i think i want next. It's gonna be before the wife goes back to work off her Adoption/maternity leave in June and i'm 99.9% certain it'll be a mk1 Octy vRS.

I've seen a few nice 05/55 examples on the net for around 3-3.5k and having driven one shortly after buying the Lexus i know they are great to drive.... And pretty similar i think to the mk1 Fabia vRS which the wife still has.

I've had a search on here but couldn't seem to see anything about mileage per tank with the vRS.... I've seen the MPG stats around but wondered what people get to a full tank and how much it costs to fully fill one???

It's average tank will be in the region of 80% motorway miles and 20% urban/town driving so wondered if anyone does similar and can give me an idea of what to expect.

Cheers

Dave.

ive been averaging 40mpgon the motorway and 30mpg around town.....i was impressed

Tank capacity of a vRS is 55 litres, (or 63 in a 4x4). I get 28-38 mpg out of mine, a higher geared vRS with less weight should be around 10% percent better.

lol..... It's just so bloody well built though and brilliant to drive..... It's approaching 8 years old and there isn't a knock or squeek etc.... in it..... Just a shame it's rather thirsty. emoticon-0120-doh.gif

55 litres isn't too bad then..... Much like the Fabia vRS and a darn site cheaper than the Lexus' 70 litre tank at around £90-95 to fully brim it!!!!!!! emoticon-0104-surprised.gif

Did someone say 'brim'? :o

Good news Dave - you'll be welcome again at the East Mids meets if you're driving a 'proper' car

I used to be able to consistently get over 360 to the tank, did get over 400 a few times when doing long motorway drives. The Fely only does 280 to the tank! But smaller tank than the Octy I think

Sorry to hi jack the thread what is the capacity of the vrs fuel tank?

When i fill mine up the pump clicks off at 45litres every time but i am thinking it will hold a good bit more or am i talking rubbish?

Tank capacity of a vRS is 55 litres, (or 63 in a 4x4). I get 28-38 mpg out of mine, a higher geared vRS with less weight should be around 10% percent better.

Ive had 56/57 l in mine once but then I was running low and the A48 into cardiff was shut so had to go round. I was on the light from j24 :giggle: Not reccomended as running them low can bugger the pump.

I regularly get 400+ out of mine and an indicated 38-40 mpg. worked out miles to l in I was around 7.6-8.2 mpl thats on the 80 mile trip to work, about 20% town/small roads 80% M4/M48A. and thats before the light comes on with the ECU I have in atm.(IP remap 210bhp ish lol)

Best I ever got on the car as std (way back when) was 9.7 mpl but that was Brighouse to Bristol at 55 mph on cruise. Never again.

I only use Sainsbury's Super as the car drives better and its close to get the fuel. Best all round fuel I found. (Throttle response and MPG)

My regular weekly fill on the Octavia was around the 50-52l mark and was costing £65-£72 thats depending on the weather and traffic.

Hence why Ive got a Fabia vRS for everyday use now lol. 12+ mpg a tank of 40l will last me a week and a half and its less than £60 to fill. got 512 mile last tank and I was able to drive at the speed limits to get that. In the Octavia to get what I am getting I drive to work at 60-70 mph and set cruise on way home to 55-60 and get indicated 42-43 mpg again depending on weather.

my long term mileage (over 10'000 miles) which is a mix of all types of road, but not much in town traffic, is 33mpg

usually get around 350 to 400 miles per tank

its realy bad that my max miles on a tank in the fabia 1.4 16v was 360 haha never got more than 40mpg i normaly got around 35mpg so nice to know my octy vrs with a 1.8 turbo will do more miles than my little fabia haha (the tank in my fabia took 50 odd litres to fill)

Mapped diesel instead of vRS?

That's like saying would you like to eat some rusty nails instead of a nice ice cream :giggle:

One man's meat is another man's poison, and I'm more than happy with my meat, thank you very much :)

Cheers as ever for all the replies guys..... Still looking at getting an Octy vRS but have just learned my budget may be rising so could well be an OctyII vRS instead..... All should be sorted within the next few months i hope.

Better built, heavier feel, available with a lorry engine :giggle: (diesel) BUT..................

not as nice looking as the mk1 IMHO. they look like the fat brother. unless you can get the FL which is ok but still not as nice to look at as the mk1.

all imo lol

good luck with the choise mate, youll love it no matter what.

I know where there's a tidy Mk1 you can have :)
