Wouldn't the previous owner be on the registration documents? Even crashed wouldn't the previous owner have had to hand these over?

And surely the owners details would be on the V5 or similar paperwork :S

If its been bought from salvage auction you don't get a v5 you get some other form stating damage and catagory of damage
