MkII (vRS) Pre-fl model revision

Featured Replies

Folks, apologies for the 9,000,000th post today. I have tried searching for this info both here and elsewhere on the www and cannot find an answer.

I was under the impression that at a certain point, some things like jumbo box, 2 zone, 18" Zeniths, etc became standard equipment on the MkII vRS, but I have read conflicting info that this happened in either 2007 or 2008. Can anybody either clarify what and when or point point me to a thread or other info on the net?

I am interested as I have a 2007 vRS and don't know what kit was optional and what was standard and what, if anything, should be declared as options to my insurer (does anybody do this?). My option codes should I should have 17s but the car has 18" Zeniths and I assume it came out of the factory (or at least the dealer) on these.

Thanks very much.

I would imagine most people wouldn't declare this stuff to their insurers, many earlier models came with this as a free upgrade, and the dealership where I bought mine from never informed me that jumbo box, 18s, climate etc where all optional extras so as far as I am concerned it is standard.

It will be car model year (MY) that dictated when this stuff was standard, not the plate or age, i.e. an 08 reg car might be a late registered 2007 MY that didn't have it as standard.

Hope that helps

They became free from 57 plate (Sep 07) onwards. The reason i know this is my last vRS i bought in Mar 07 and never got them. A friend who bought his for the Sep 57 plate did get them for free.

Dunno if it went back as far as that, but I was looking to get my motor at the start of 2008 and the 'free vRS upgrade worth £933', as it was marketed, was around then. I have the brochure effective July 1st-sept 30th with the same info. It says in the blurb that the official upgrade included 18" zeniths, dual-zone air conditioning (climatronic, in other words), rear electric windows, and jumbo box, so I guess if you DON'T have any of those, yours is pre-upgrade.

Hope that helps somewhat.

Mine has the lot BS - I just didn't know whether there were options or were standard as I had seen a few cars of a similar age that didn't have kit like the jumbo box. Sparked my interest as the option codes showed 17" wheels so I did wonder if these had been a dealer upgrade. I also have cruise, but assume that was still an option.

That was the site I'd looked at but didn't really think it was clear (unless it's just me!!).

any insurance company i have dealt with says (they dont care what extra's are fitted as long they are factory fitted) ie not halfords after market. so not telling them about free extra's don't worry.

Mines 07 plate and has it.
