  • Here are the pics as I promised. Full re-trim in nappa and alcantara leather with red stiching to match the rest of the interior. The backs were painted the same colour as the car. Black Magic Pearl.

Always annoyed by the absence of light over the rear passenger seats I've started buying a few things hoping to soon do the installation.

I've gone for the dome light that many cars of the VW group share. (Felicia, Polo, Arosa, Lupo, Caddy etc.) Mine has the code: 6N0947105E and it is VW made. A search on eBay will produce a good number of such dome lights, used and new. Their size is aprox, 14cm x 7cm. Wiring loom didn't come with the casing (just with a plain bulb) but you can simply attach cables to the pins on the back. If you want to be very professional about it you can get a socket but when I asked for it at the VW dealership it was about 5euros so I decided to leave it as is. Just for a small piece of plastic I find it expensive  . Anyways if you wanna get it too the part number is 3B0 972 706 and the wires 000 979 131 and they look something like this:

Since I will be cutting the roof lining (I'm already scared about that part  ) I've realized that for a perfect, snug fit I will need the metal frame that goes around the opening and will most definitely hold the casing better. (I hope). I wasn't able to find it on ebay but my mech had a couple lying around from used Felicia parts  .

Then it was time for the right kind of led. ebay again was the best option and at the link you will find what I picked.(http://viewitem.eim....0845924605/item) The size is just right for the board to go into the casing with no problems and the light output is plenty. Look for Car Interior 48 SMD LED on eBay and you will find loads but always make sure the size is close to 6cm x 4cm

Here is also a pic of the leds installed into the casing. I've used some foam I had laying around to keep the board from moving around and ready for installation.
Fingers crossed all we go well and I will not just mess up my roof lining. Will keep you updated with the results.

Here is a sneak preview of what I've been doing lately. I always wanted a leather interior and after a lot of debating regarding color schemes and designs I decided to play safe and choose black Nappa accompanied by red stitching. Actually what sealed the deal for me was pic of the A1 Quattro interior... I was in love.

Parts that got wrapped are steering wheel, seats, gear stick, handbrake and armrest. The design on the front seats was changed to match the lines found in the RS with some minor alterations, for the side panels we added a line of stitching just to make them look more interesting and for the rest we just followed the original lines. Finally for the armrest we decided to do the sort of stitching design found in the BT Fabia.

The feel of the seats is just great - hated the fact that before they felt too soft, I felt I was "sinking"... no more. Still I need to put all things back together (hence the funny looking gear lever ;) but I'm still waiting on my plastics to be painted in black magic pearl and then all will be ready. Yes I know black, black, black... Batmobile ;)

Anyways, soon as everything comes together I will post some proper pics for you. :) Let me know what you think so far.

Can't help you mate - I'm not situated in the UK. Many people suggest these guys. http://www.theseatsurgeons.com/metadot/index.pl

Give them a call :)

thank's, I send them an email.

and one more time, your car is really nice!

now that looks smart loving it keep it up mate

£1100 for leather from Seat Surgeons seems excessive. Rather wait til a Limited Edition Fabia comes out and pay for it from factory lol

It is close to what I paid but what did their offer include?

Mine was stearing wheel, door panels, seats, handbrake, gear shift and armrest.

I have recieved the same quote 850 + VAT for just the seats!

Ouch!

Bye bye my dream of leather interior!!

No one pays full price, most guys I know have had them done there for 850, and that is an Octavia, ( cash) ;)

Love the interior :-) having leather is great. Was thinking of getting the steering wheel, handbreak and gear stick done myself :-)
