Drivers for USB lead for VCDS

Does anybody have the right drivers or at least a link to download the correct drivers that they could send me or post here please?

I've been here and the link for the drivers themselves no longer works;

I'm using the same lead.

Desperate now as I've had to replace servo and master cylinder after doing discs/pads all round, bled the life out of everything (master cylinder bleeders included) several times, and still got a horrible pedal, and was hoping that connecting to VCDS to bleed the ABS pump would be the solution, but alas, this laptop won't connect to the cable, let alone the car.

I read somewhere that taking a test drive and "activating" the ABS under braking means tha you don't need VCDS ?

This driver came with a 4.09 VAGCOM release

Its a generic driver, I scanned it with AVG for viruses.

All drivers and software are on the rosstech website but if your interface isnt genuine they wont work for you.

Genuine interfaces cost £100's with the relevant full software included. Most people here are just using VCDS lite with exactly the same lead that I have.

The threads regarding auto windows but should still apply as it's a VAG-Com cable.

does this mean you can see the lead in device manager and Know its com2 ?

If so, try changing its com port to higher value.

com 2 is often shared, which VAGcom doesn't like

I paid £280 with VAT and delivery and also get free updates and email or telephone support and have no worries that the interface may be unstable...well worth it. Edited 5 January, 2012 by 07 vRS Taxi

Already tried that, and didn't work, so went back to default settings, albeit still on COM 2 as opposed to COM 7 as it was when I started.

I plan to open a garage specialising in VAG In the summer. Your interface will only work with the software version it was sold with. VCDS Is now on version 11.11.1

Tried plugging it in to a different physical port? I found my cheapy cable was happier on an old Win2k or XP laptop than anything newer

That particular interface doesn't even come with software. It is a generic lead, and like I said, the same one that most other people are using, with no issues.

Only got 2 USB slots, tried them both. I'll try pulling out my wireless card and see if that frees up a COM port I can try. Got today off, so might get a chance to play, although have a mountain of stuff to do at home.

I'd go through the device mananger and try to work out what using the com ports.

If your laptop has any of its own serial interfaces, disable them. Modems grab COM ports too, so again disable if present.

On my new(ish) laptop I have to run VAGCOM in a VMware virtual machine running Windows 2000, as the software on the laptop dynamically assigns COM 1-6

I think that more due to the fact that Ross-tech have moved away from the old generic USB serial port emulation technology.

The new leads (v9 onwards) are a USB 'dongle' with serial I/O builtin, which is why they now use their 'own' driver (which has the dongle access API)
