Wheel refurb needed :( Colour change? :)

Featured Replies

I curbed one of the wheels today (BBS CH Reps) in a car park. Long story but basically my lack of spatial awareness to blame.

I am going to get all the wheels redone in a different colour. I am thinking dark bronze?

Heres a pic of the car sitting a bit high as wheels just on. Anyone want to photoshop or colour opinions please.

Cheers, Rob

Will try and find the side on pic I had.

Wow first person man enough to admit it! Id just have said the wife did it :giggle: Sorry to hear one got hit but great excuse to paint unsure about dark bronze might look like your trying to be a old Subaru wannabe!

Sorry to hear of the mishap but keep them the original colour if / when you get them refurbed.

I'm pretty happy with how mine came out, had them all refurbed and powdercoated in a sort of metallic grey colour... They're all gloss black on the inside and I believe the way they get the finish is to spray the wheels completely black and then just dust the faces with silver so they have a black backing which gives this metallic sort of finish...

Here's the pics anyway but this was done locally at a place called Headley Bodyshop for £50 per wheel!

Get them done anthracite, gun metal grey.

Im going candy white with my alloys (not standard vRS ones)

Going to be bugger to keep clean but the blue and white really go and iv never seen it before on the octy's and to be honest everyone does anthracite and black, its been done to death

Not keen on the bronze though, if it was black then might be able to get away with it but on the race blue i think it will look odd

Haha, you say it's been done to death but there's a good reason for that....

Gloss Black is the one I've got bored of seeing, especially on White Vauxhalls! White wheels will look ok, not sure on a blue Octavia to be honest but on the right car they look good but that's usually Jap cars or Mini's to me.... As you say though, biggest problem is keeping them clean as they HAVE to be be clean all the time to look good in my opinion

opinions as to the best colour of wheels for a red vrs?

in the "are you doing it right" pic thread there are 14.7 billion pics a serious amount of them are of Stamsaas's Race blue on 20" whites!

This is our Stamsaas's motor with white on the only true VRS coloured Octy

The 20's look good, but think they'd look good in any colour ;-)

The thing with White is it can just look a bit plastic.... On a rally inspired car (Evo, RS, Impreza) they can look great, but you have to be careful I think... Best bet is to go for something you won't quickly get bored of or not so "out there" that you get sick of the sight of them either (Think Yellow or Bright green cars) :o

Saying that the White Octavia with the Green centred splits looks amazing and Green wheels don't usually crop up outside of Ken Blocks Fiesta :D

Rob, years ago I had a Calibra turbo in Spectral blue, now while it was darker than the Race blue I think the bronze will look amazing, my wheels were MR2 bronze.

Below is the only picture I have, unfortunately it was taken before the digital revolution so I have had to scan the original, hopefully you will get the idea though -

These are mine  going to powder coated white one put on as soon as we get some decent weather and the car will be on KW V1's by then aswell :)

Thats photoshopped and does not give the car an justice but never the less

Theres only really one colour you can go with red and thats black :/ or white just might work

Id leave them as is personally but then again I have no real taste :p

they are a nice looking set of wheels but regardless of the design i think keeping them polished or silver dulls them down, any set of alloys always look better painted in my opinion.

They're a rep of the Rotiforms looking at that pic, i love the originals when polished up though:

I can imagine they'd look good on the Octavia too but just not sure on White... Interested to see it when it's done though.

As for Red Cars, almost anything works:

Yeah their reps, not paying them prices!

I think they will look good, if not ill just get them stripped back or a different colour

I get nosebleeds it sits so high!

I think it's the gold for me too. White is too much cleaning :p

Mine are smoked chrome, need to be clean to show at their best but at this time of year people think they are anthracite
