Hello all,

If you don't mind me asking, if you have VWFS for your Skoda as your not lucky enough to buy it outright what apr was you given. My garage said you cannot have lower than 7.9% if you order a stock VRS, correct?

0% :giggle:

7.9 sounds about right. You're probably best off getting a personal loan for slightly less APR.

Mine is 5.3%

7.9% for me, wouldn't go lower said they couldn't!

Got 0% VWFS on the Passat but paid for the Fabias with part-ex + cash.

I got 2.5% on some special deal (not VRS though) which was so cheap I stuck it on finance anyway and used the money for other things instead to turn a profit over the finance charges.

If it's so low I can't see any reason to have the kudos of saying you paid for it if you are better off not.

We got 0% over 2 years, with a 50% deposit. (Fabia MKII Vrs)

A bit of a poor financial choice if you can get 0% though.

Might as well leave your savings earning interest or re-invest than pull them out to make a car purchase when 0% deals are on.

I sort of agree but will always make use of 0% if it is on offer, even with the useless interest rates these days a few pennies is better in my pocket than theirs.

That said when I got my first mortgage I had two cars on 0%, but with enough money available to pay them off. Mortgage calculator at the bank penalised me for having loans, even the mortgage advisor said it was stupid. Only way round it was to pay off the loans to get a better deal, even with the lower initial capital it left me with!!!

I'd rather pay 2.5% and earn much more than that % on the money. B)

It's paid for the finance, insurance and service.

I was going to answer Seb, but I'm not sure this is the right place for a discussion on various reasons. :)

On with the APR posts...

Everything is negotiable. Everything. Price. APR. Everything. No it isn’t sir. Goodbye then.

Cash! I used to give this to dealers too. Gosh.

Of course if you have pockets as deep as Seb’s, you don’t mind handing wheelbarrows full of cash over the dealers counter.

I’ve heard Skoda are building their next dealership on the top of Snowdon with a helicopter landing pad “sponsored by Seboni”!

7%, but got free servicing for 3 years so works out well!

It's not savings.

It's little bits of business and investments.

Quick example: Looking for minibuses for work at an auction, 230 commercial vehicles and 1 Defender station wagon. Needless to say, it went through cheap at £8k as it wasn't a 4x4 auction and it was lost in the sea of vans. I had it in the Auto Trader a week later and made £900. Sold the day the paper came out. I just find having a lump of cash often gives oppertunities, where having it tied up in a car doesn't. It's just sitting there... depreciating.

This is not the best example, but I don't want to turn this into a boasting thread.

I got a quote a week or two ago for a vRS, dug out the paperwork for that and it was at 7.1% APR.

I do similar but with clothing, just ordered £ 1,000 of stock and will keep till next Xmas then I will make £2k on this , there's no way I could get interest like this anywhere, but I agree if you can get a low apr 0% well you should grab it IMO

Yep always look for deals.

I had a £15k part ex towards a £25k Passat.

So draw £10k out of the bank/investments or take 0% VW Finance and with the Finance came three years free servicing.

You need admitting to the funny farm if you pay cash on that deal. :giggle:

0% over 3 years but that was trade in plus cash and I suppose things have changed in the financial markets since then.

I have owned 3 cars and I have bought all of them new and on 0% finance -some of the finance deals on cars should be illegal.

A lot of car manufacturers are even starting to offer 0% finance on used cars, quite often buying a six month or year old car on finance from a dealer can work out more expensive than buying new.
