Suspension Set-up

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Bit of advice needed. I want to lower my Furby vRS but am unsure what route to take.

To date, I have only found two companies that do springs and dampers for the vRS; namely Eibach and Weitec. Eibach are substantially more expensive and as a result I would probably only be able to afford springs only, however Weitec list a matched springs and damper set for only

I dont think anyone has any experience of the Weitec setup.... but the phrase "you get what you pay for" springs to mind.

Weitec shold be fine! we have Skoda fabias not Ferraris a friend of mine used Weitec strut inserts and he had no problem with his Golf,

whats the link to Weitec, I would definately opt for them at the cost.

No but theres little point in fitting a kit that doesnt work on a car, no matter how cheap it is. Not saying the Weitec kit isnt good but as far as we know no one as yet has tried it.

Somebody has to be first, Weitec do a full kit for the polo, Demon tweeks used to sell them but don't quote me.

i think the original thread was about All torque wanting to save money

I lowered mine with H&R. Pretty good ones too...theyve lowered the car about an inch.

Where can you get the springs and dampers for that price? I've generally seen about

could they pm me too

But the issue is to me, not whether they lower the car, but whether they actually offer any improvement to the stock setup, which isnt all that bad anyway.

^^

Agree, I personally would opt for Koni ajustables with Eibach's - the best in the business for a "complete" package.

What is better about the adjustable set over something like Eibachs own dampers? (genuine question btw, not trying to argue with you :D)

I believe the Koni's can be set to your preference more than just the Eibachs can, Koni and Eibach's are perfectly mated even more so that Eibach springs with Eibach dampers/Koni spring and Koni dampers, unsure why, but they just seem feel right and im sure every member on here that has the setup would vouch for that, even the esteemed mr clarke.

Tbh, not sure how much "real world" difference there would be, but for me ride quality would be the main issue as im sure the handling would be in a different league will all suspension setups that SWMBO didnt get annoyed.

When I refer to the "complete" package also, I mean for road use, obviously coilovers take it to the next level, but at the end of the day I have a diesel 5 door hatchback skoda that has to do the shopping and goto work and back, so the ultimate race setup doesnt bother me, tbh it's almost good enough now, there is certainly enough grip - just a bit too much lean.

I have the complete Eibach set-up and having driven both my own car (obviously) and another vrs on eibach/koni, I must admit that there is very little difference. Both improve the ride characteristics and with the springs, greatly reduce body roll and pitch under acceleration and braking. It depends what you are after, but I am more than happy with the eibach kit. I probably wouldn't be adjusting the rebound anyway - almost certainly not the backs as you need to remove the shocks to adjust them! I think both come at a similar price, so it really is swings and roundabouts...

Well put, wonder what Eibach springs are like on their own and how long the OE shocks would last, also whats the best price you can get the vRS springs at?
