VRS Exhaust tips - stainless?

Featured Replies

Quick question.

On a mk2 pre-fl octavia vrs, are the dual exhaust tips stainless?

If so are they bolted/screwed or or actually the exhaust? Mine aren't shiny, just smoked.(the carbon deposit look)

Pretty sure they're stainless, and they're welded on. Give em a soapy sponge clean and dry and then use some metal polish and fine-grade wire wool and they'll come up great. There's enough space around the rear valence to get your hand in, only awkward bit is between the pipes.

Did exactly this myself last year and worked a treat.

In fact, I took a couple of pics while I was doing it:

Defo stainless, Autosol metal cleaner brings them up a treat!

Thanks.

They look great. I'll give it a go tomorrow!

Yeah it was Autosol metal polish that I used.

Once you've cleaned them give them a polish with a cloth first, see how bright you can get them, and after that go for the rough spots with the wire wool.

I must have been lucky; I just used a normal yellow duster, any stubborn deposits lifted with a little extra rubbing.

I loved the results, so much so when I now wash the car revealing the shiny tailpipes is the best bit :giggle:

Cheers, thank you. I'll see how it goes

Same here mine were non shiny when had the car used Autosol and gave it some cleaning with microfibre cloth and came up like new, so much so my mate noticed em and borrowed the autosol to do his his (that reminds me )

Wd40 will remove the deposits without any bother and keep them shiney for longer.
