Any others cars?

Featured Replies

So I'm thinking about upgrading cars after 9 months of Vrs ownership. I don't have a lot of experience with cars so need some advice. I have short listed a few and hope you guys can offer opinions or other suggestions.

I require something faster than my stage 1 2011 TSI. Preferably not FWD. Big enough for my family of 3,.as nice if not better interior than the vrs. Good spec. Upto 30k, preferably with warranty. Reliable. I am looking to buy in 9-12 months but am researching way in advance.

I have short listed these in preference order:

S4 3.0TFSI with a stage 1 to around 400bhp.

RS4 saloon

M3 V8

C63.

You may be suprised by the S4 first. This is because I can get a newer model with lower mileage compared to the rest.

Why? What do you do? Getaway driver?

I just love the feeling of the power. Why even buy a vrs you may ask as well or why stage 1, 2, 3 etc etc. just feels good. Why make this ridiculous cars at all? Some people want to be excited by thier car and I guess I'm one of them. Il grow out of it. It's just all new to me and I love it.

RS4 - it's a beautiful engine!

Agreed with that. Its just starting to look a bit dated now against the new S4. It's a really tough choice. Gonna take numerous test drives I think.

Any cars I'm forgetting?

what about going stealth? a superb 4x4 3.2 V6 ? I beleive they remap quite well, as its a detuned version of the engine ;)

My God have seen you seen a RS 4 move the noise I cannot go on this is talking pure Orgasam material.

Superb may not actually fit in my garage they're blooming huge. Also would that be quicker than the stage 1 TSI?

Yes intoxicating, have you heard the C63 though? Even nicer.

Im not sure as I don't spend too much time in the superb section, but I believe someone had some pretty impressive figures after mapping one if these ( much more than you would think with a n/a engine, as it's detuned in the superb) and it gives the same power as the faster Audi versions of that engine...

Just done a search, but my phone won't let me post the link! ( search v6 remap in superb II section) I believe it gives 300bhp and 380 nm :) that should shift...

Impressive figures. I was unaware it could get do much

Doesn't the RS4 have bugger all room in the back, like its actually impossible to get an adult in the back when the driver is not a dwarf due to there being ZERO leg room. May be fine for small kids.

If it was me i'd be looking at RS4's, not jealous at all like. :giggle:

I'd say RS4. I looked at the older model when I was looking for a Volvo. Yea they haven't got much room in the back. I've been looking at RS6's recently and they are awesome.

The RS4 has slightly less room in the back. Be ok for my little girl. Does anyone else think it looks a little dated inside compared to new S4?

Have you considered any of the BMW Alpinas. Nice motors, rwd and a bit more unusual than a standard beemer.

No I haven't. Il check them out. Nice one bud

The B7 RS4 interior still stacks up well against pretty much everything that Skoda make now, IMHO :)

Those pics look better than the rs4's I've seen. I certainly haven't ruled it out.

What about a VXR8?

Was next to one at some traffic lights yesterday. Admittedly it had an obviously non-standard exhaust, but my god, i got instant wood when that thing took off full bore.

With that noise, i'd drive everywhere at 8k RPM.

What is the budget? (roughly)

I was going to suggest that, there was a 500hp Monaro on Autotrader the other week for £10k too.

Dunno what this has but says the clutch is good for 700hp

TBH for thrills, if I had the money, I'd be looking at a Caterham Superlight or an Aerial Atom.

Or try a bike. My old ZXR only had 400cc but going round a corner with your knee on the deck and the engine doing 14k certainly made the buttocks clench sometimes. I've never been in a car that give the same buzz as a bike.

Unfortunately I need a family sized car plus after a horrible family friend death I'm a bit scared of bikes. Just a mental thing.
