Ordered June 2011, built week 49, arrived Grimsby Dec 30, at dealer Jan 6, 2012; will pick up next Saturday Jan 14. Tow bar and electrics are to be fitted, will be getting the 'Prorack Wispbar' roof bars. Well worth the long wait.

:) :)

Congratulations on the new car .!!!

This isn't the scout is it ? I have the same wheels on my car.. What tyres is your car on ... (specs) ??

Also the ride height seems a bit high ... Or is it because the car is on those block thingy which are there on the cars pre-delivery... ?

Also please do post a couple of pictures when you take delivery of the car ... I want to see the stance of the car.. As the cars we have here have a 165 mm ground clearance and tbh look a bit too pathetic .

Congratulations once again. !

Good work! The Prorack Whispbars are an excellent choice, I have them on mine. I went for the extra wide bars, as they're more practical than the nicer looking between rails bars. I leave them fitted as the extra fuel consumption (with no load on them) is negligible - less than 1 mpg difference I reckon! They are also as quiet as the name suggests. Well worth the money!

I have the Prorack Wispbars too (S44 version) and they are pretty good, some pics are here at post #8

Pardon my ignorance, but could you please explain 'Audi jacking points'?

We're coming up on our 1st year of happy motoring. Did my first power-slide in snow yesterday in the car park at Glenshee with the ESP turned off. Car park nearly empty by 5pm and couldn't resist - what a blast! Saw a silver 61 plate 4x4 there also; first FL 4x4 I've seen other than our own. (Rare beasts they are).

We went for full size spare, maxi-dot, curtain air bags, towbar prep (plus dealer outsourced detachable Westfalia bar), variable boot floor, dog/luggage partition, mats, leather hand brake grip and rear bumper protection. Got winter tyres on steels at the mo' (Nokian WR G2) and Thule have taken a small fortune from us in the form of roof bars, roof box, bike carriers (tow ball and roof mounted), and surf board carriers. Also fitted the MAD Helper Springs as the back-end is a bit soft when under moderate/heavy loads.

To be honest, if I had the cash and could justify it, I'd buy another tomorrow.

Enjoy when you get your hands on her, especially the 2.0L donkey!

Silver got there before me :)

The jacking points really did work a treat, so much so I bought another set for 'er indoor's A3 - it helps that underneath is identical, as is a Golf, Leon etc. Cost was about £40 for a set, the rears were a doddle but as explained in the thread Silver pointed to the fronts needed a bit of swearing to get fitted .... and it was a Torx T25 bit was required.

As we intend keeping both cars for some time it means when jacking the cars up twice a year to swap to and from winter tyres I won't damage the cars. Incidentally, when I was fitting them to the A3 I did see some evidence of minor damage caused by what I assume to be from previous wheel swaps (Kwik Fit 4-point lifts etc). I don't blame Kwik Fit at all, even when I was looking where to jack using the supplied scissor jack or my trolley jack I don't think the car would have survived completely unscathed if it were not for the jacking points.

Forgot to add, I fitted Dynamat under the rear seats and around the spare wheel well as threads here had commented on road noise. This coupled with a raised boot floor certainly makes for a quiet ride.

A pic of ours before being 'peeled'.

Exciting times!!

Are you sureyou trned the ESP off? As you can only turn the Traction Control OFF.

Is that Ingrams at Ayr?

Looking good Sir, enjoy

Apologies, I should've said TCS and not ESP, (Old habits; I'm sure the equivalent button in our old Passat had "ESP" on it), and yes, it is Ingrams.

Looks pretty similar to the one I've got comming this month (ordered in early May).

on the dynamat how easy was it to fit and what thickness did you use?

Delivery times haven't changed much I see; we ordered ours May '10 and took delivery Jan '11; worth the wait however.

"Dynamat 19405 Xtreme Trunk Kit contains five 18"x 32" pieces of Dynamat Xtreme" from

"caraudiosecurityuk" at Amazon. (£79 ~ £10 cheaper now than it was last year!).

Fitting was easy; all you need are a pair of sharp kitchen scissors. I did the boot floor/wheel well, under the rear seats and and had enough left to do the inside of the boot storage compartment doors. Just trim it to whatever shape fits and any offcuts can be used in a mosaic pattern to cover the smaller areas around the edges. Works a treat!

Enjoy the new car. I bet you are praying for snow :giggle:

Yep snow and a nice muddy field to pull the caravan on and off, have often had to rely on 4x4 owners to pull me off. ;)

Which links to This guide which I compiled.

A very worthwhile mod in my opinion.

Yorkshire, there's nothing better than seeing your brand new car all in it's wrapper eh!? Well, apart from driving it off the forecourt that is

Hope you enjoy it!

Thanks for that. Will post pics of the new beast when it turns up on wednesday, its first trip will be up to Inverness and back in a fortnights time. Might even be snow then!

Hi PZ1811

Have the car at home now, it is not the Scout, have put a couple pictures on regarding the ride height. Ground clearance according to the brochure is 163 mm, Scout 179 mm.

Tyres are Dunlop SP Sport 205/60 R15V
