Alarm Malfunction

Featured Replies

Hi. I have trawled through all the relevant threads on this subject and thought I had found the answer to my problem. When I lock the car within less than a minute the alarm goes off.

The threads suggest checking the bonnet switch, the tailgate switch and also the interior sensor.

My vehicle is a 2002 estate 1.9 TDI and I am having problems locating the switch in the taigate despite removing all the plastic trim. The switch is apparently not in the same place in the estate as on the hatchback.

The bonnet switch is ok. If I disconnect it the problem still remains.

I thought I would move on to the interior sensor which I assumed would be in the interior light unit behind a little grill opening. Removal of the unit revealed not a sensor here but a small piece of plastic foam. Where is the interior sensor?

If anyone can throw any light on these queries I would be very much obliged.

Mine did this last year about 1/2 way through the winter. I ended up pulling the fuse as it was doing my head in.

I never did get to the bottom of it. Though I needed an alarm fob coded in May, so I plonked the fuse back in. It's been fine since.

There are a number of threads on the subject. Causes are numerous however...

Alarm fuse is fuse 60 in the fusebox on the driver's end of the dash.

Many thanks Vindaloo. Fuse 60 now removed and I can stop going crazy. Much obliged to you.
